A reference to Call Of Duty: Warzone's fictional setting, Verdansk, has been found within Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies mode. The Call Of Duty: Black Ops storylines have always been steeped in mystery and conspiracy with the most recent installment in the series being no different. On top of that, with the integration of the core Call Of Duty game and the Warzone mode, there have been multiple instances of the universes crossing over with one another. Many speculate this easter egg has something to do with the heavily-rumored nuclear strike that might be heading for Verdansk.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War released in November of 2020 to a generally positive reception and has gone on to be one of the best selling Call Of Duty installments in recent years. The game continues the long-running "Black Ops" story arch and also sees the return of the fan-favorite Zombies mode. The game's weapons, gear, and operators were integrated into the wildly popular Call Of Duty: Warzone at launch which allowed the two games' narratives to be loosely connected. Since then, many have speculated that big changes will be coming to Warzone to show the shift of setting from 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

In a post by GameRant, it is detailed that a player happened upon a clipboard within Call of Duty Zombies Outbreak mode that references the fictional country of Verdansk where Warzone is set. Redditor Dialga117 located a clipboard on the second floor of the asylum within the Sanatorium region of the mode. this clipboard mentions that the Russian government has been carrying out experiments known as the "Yamantau Protocols" on a group of people. Some fans might recognize the "Yamantau Protocols" that played an integral part in the original Black Ops' storyline.

The clipboard mentions that the experiments will be continued somewhere in Verdansk. This solidifies a connection between the Warzone universe and the Black Ops Cold War universe. This easter egg has been added following the ongoing speculation that a nuclear strike is heading for Verdansk that will change the map for the new season next month. Zombies have been moving across Verdnask for a few weeks now. This most recent find will sure to continue speculation on Warzone's future for weeks to come.

The integration of Black Ops Cold War into Warzone has not been smooth. The battle royale has been plagued with a cycle of balancing issues and game-breaking glitches that Activision has struggled to keep up with. More recently, the extremely overpowered weapons in Warzone have been nerfed after a long tenure of dominating the play space but many speculate that another group of weapons will soon take their place. Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Season 3 is just around the corner and it is sure to bring many changes to both the core game and Call Of Duty: Warzone.
