Riot Shields in Call of Duty: Warzone have always been a polarizing topic in the community, either players love to use them or hate to fight them. However, one Reddit user, LordTexugo, found the most destructive tactic for riot shields yet.

Although Call of Duty: Warzone's maps have tons of long-range options, some of the most intense fights happen up close and personal. When those fights happen, having a riot shield in the back pocket is always a safe option. Especially when it can result in trapping other players in small areas.

When players feel like putting down their favorite sniper loadout in Call of Duty: Warzonethe best method for close encounters is a new strategy involving the riot shield combined with a solid perk. Using the riot shield in tandem with the Restock Perk, Gas Grenades, and Frag grenades can net players some stylish and effective kills. When players are trapped in small areas with a riot shield, they typically panic and start spraying down the shield user and will reload shortly after. That's when it is time to strike.

There are other loadouts that work well in close range in Call of Duty: Warzone, like using SMGs, but nothing quite beats a perfectly executed riot shield kill. Since throwing grenades leaves the shielding player exposed, it's best to time it just right, but by using Restock, the shield user can take advantage of nearly infinite frag and gas grenades. Since the shield traps the opposing player, the grenade can be used to cut off their only remaining wiggle room and force them to take the damage and go down. Since Restock will bring back the player's grenades, it can be used again after only 50 seconds.

Additionally, getting solid practice down on the timing of frag grenades is essential for making this loadout work. Cooking grenades is the player's only way to deal with medium-range encounters using this loadout. Sure the sidearm is available, but it is not the most effective. A well-timed grenade can down an opposing player faster than any assault rifle in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Now, this strategy is notably better in instances where the player using the riot shield can isolate their opponent, but can be used with a team as well. Once enemies in Call of Duty: Warzone see a player with a riot shield, they tend to ignore them and focus on the more immediate threats. However, with grenades constantly refreshing, the use of either gas or frag grenades can put on a ton of additional pressure in team fights. Players will want to make sure to keep those fights close range though, and keep an eye out for more Call of Duty: Warzone leaks.
