It seems some items from Verdansk’s Superstore have come to life, with one Call of Duty: Warzone player recently encountering some players using riot shields to look like cans on a shelf. The use of the protective weapon is a popular tactic in Warzone thanks to its ability to shield a player whilst still allowing them to deal damage.

Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone recently entered Season Five, which brought with it a plethora of new content for its fans to enjoy, in the form of new guns, perks, and operators. Along with Warzone’s new Season, Activision recently revealed the next entry in its popular FPS franchise, in the form of Call of Duty: Vanguard. Taking the franchise back in time to World War II, Vanguard will integrate with Warzone via a massive new map, after which both games will also share free content updates, including the implementation of a brand new anti-cheat system.

Reddit user The-Meme-Dealer07 posted a clip of their hilarious yet terrifying encounter with a squad using riot shields in Warzone, which caused the players to look as if they were cosplaying a set of cans on a shelf. The enemy squad was first detected by The-Meme-Dealer07 with the use of the Heartbeat Sensor tactical item, which directs the user towards nearby players. Following the sensor, the Redditor cautiously headed up the stairs with his pistol ready, walking into what at first seemed like an empty room. The-Meme-Dealer07 looked up to notice an enemy squad of four standing on top of the shelf, each taking cover behind a riot shield which caused the team to look like a bunch of cans taken straight from Verdansk's Superstore.

The encounter clearly terrified the Redditor, as they immediately turned around and ran. Upon jogging into the next building, the Warzone player turned around to make sure they weren’t followed, before continuing to put more distance between themselves and the enemy squad. The Redditor added in the comments that their reaction was because they had assumed that the cosplaying squad was equipped with Warzone's Kali Sticks, a two-hit kill weapon, which would have made short work of the solo player.

While it’s uncertain whether the supermarket-esque cosplay was intended by the enemy team, their incredibly fitting positioning on the shelf put a hilarious twist on a terrifying situation. No doubt more of these interesting encounters will be in store for fans of the franchise, with the next installment for the series due later this year. Call of Duty: Vanguard’s beta begins in September, before the game’s release on November 5.
