Call of Duty: Warzone is continuing to draw ire from its fans over the overpowered DMR-14 gun, but there's some humor to be found in all the discontent - particularly in a hilarious meme video posted on Reddit that pokes fun at developer Raven Software for essentially doing nothing to balance out the ridiculously overpowered rifle.

The DMR-14 first started making its rounds back in December when it was introduced as part of Warzone's then-upcoming season. Players were stoked to try out the new weapon, along with the arsenal of other new guns that the season brought with it, but things quickly soured when it was discovered that the DMR-14 was ridiculously overpowered. It could mow down opposing players with only a few shots, and since it quickly became ubiquitous among players who'd rather not be at the business end of it if they could avoid it, the balance that Warzone was aiming for was quickly thrown off, with fans claiming that the weapon had made the game "unplayable."

In a response to the criticism, which was plentiful even without the DMR issue thanks to a few major glitches and the removal of the double XP token feature, publisher Activision tweeted out several promises that player concerns had been heard, and that the DMR would be nerfed in order to restore balance to Warzone. While Activision fulfilled a few of its promises by restoring the double XP tokens and circumventing a major invisibility glitch with a temporary fix, players very soon realized that Activision's nerfing had accomplished almost precisely nothing. Frustrated fans took to the forums to vent their displeasure, particularly on Reddit, but one Redditor, aSALTYsquirt, took a different approach by resurrecting a piece of internet history and reshaping it into a meme video poking fun at the entire debacle:

The video in question became a member of meme royalty in 2015, but was originally shot in 2007 as part of the Spanish talk show, Ratones Coloraos, hosted by Jesús Quintero. The original video was an interview with Spanish comedian El Risitas (born Juan Joya Borja), whose now-infamous high-pitched, wheezing laugh brought the audience and host near to tears. The video itself gained internet fame eight years later when it was repurposed as a meme by subtitling El Risitas' Spanish dialogue with fabricated English translations, criticizing the then-newly released MacBook - it gained five million views in the month after it was uploaded to YouTube. Since then, the video has been used as a template for countless memes criticizing political affairs and businesses, and gained notoriety in the gaming sphere for its frequent use against Blizzard - who, ironically enough, is now a subsidiary of Activision - particularly following their controversial updates to Hearthstone.

El Risitas' now-infamous interview is quickly becoming a staple of Activision's fan legacy, and not in a good way. As the company continues to spectacularly mishandle player feedback, it's likely we'll be seeing a few more iterations of the video in the near future. So even if players can't enjoy a balanced combat game, at least they can enjoy El Risitas's infectious wheezing laugh.
