Console gamers have always expressed their reservations against crossplay due to the advantage PC gamers have in certain aspects of competitive games, and Call of Duty: Warzone console players have proven one more advantage in a recent comparison video. While Infinity Ward has given the option to turn-off crossplay to console gamers, that option is still exclusive to PS4 gamers, which puts Xbox players at an even greater disadvantage.

Recently, console players have resorted to turning off crossplay to avoid rampant cheating by PC players. However, many players ended up being not able to find matches at all or experiencing long matchmaking times. This often results in increased ping range, punishing these player with high amounts of lag if they want to play without cross-play enabled. While both console and PC gamers face cheaters, there are numerous other things that give PC players an advantage in-game. First, there is the keyboard and mouse advantage, which makes PC players much more accurate than console players, but it's somewhat counter-balanced by console players' aim-assist feature. Furthermore, PC players also have a frame-rate advantage as they can play above 60 frames per second, which can make quite a difference in competitive play.

A recent video from eVCephei shows that PC gamers have a higher field of vision (FOV) as compared to console players. For those who are unaware, FOV basically defines the total area visible on the screen. A higher FOV means a larger portion of the onscreen action will be visible to the players who can exploit the sight advantage, while a lower FOV spells the opposite for console players. In the video, it can be seen that while the enemy can be spotted pretty easily on the PC screen, it can't be seen on the console due to lower FOV. The option to change the FOV is only present in the PC version of the game, so console players have no other option instead of sticking to the default FOV.

Considering the fact that console players are already at a disadvantage for reasons mentioned above, the lower default FOV makes things worse for them. Most console games don't allow players to change the graphical settings of the game. Developers usually try to maximize the graphical fidelity in consoles while ensuring elements that can cause distractions in-game, such as foliage, are kept at the minimum. FOV is one of those settings which is usually kept at the maximum in games where there is crossplay involved.

While adding the option to turn off crossplay for all console players might not be feasible to ensure that matchmaking times are kept in check, Infinity Ward should definitely consider increasing the FOV for Call of Duty: Warzone console players. However, it might be just that the console's hardware capabilities are restricting the FOV since a higher FOV means that the console will have to render more items on the screen. Players are expecting that the developer will find a workaround for this issue, as they're tired of the disparity hurting the console community's odds of winning.
