Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 introduced the biggest changes to the battle royale since its March 2020 release. Developer Raven Software overhauled Verdansk by transporting it into 1984, which drastically altered many of the game's key landmarks. Warzone has fundamentally remained the same, but players will need to commit a handful of newly added areas to memory if they want to be the last ones standing when the circle closes in.

Warzone's nuke event included several maps from past Black Ops releases that long-time Call of Duty fans will recognize when they dive into Verdansk. Activision and Raven Software rolled out this latest patch on April 22, which confirmed months of rumors of an impending facelift to the battle royale. It's the beginning of a new era for Warzone, which has recently reached 100 million players ahead of its Season 3 update.

For more than a year now, Verdansk has remained unchanged. Warzone fans have long been waiting for substantial changes to the map to freshen gameplay and encourage new strategies. The day has finally arrived, and users now need to adapt to Verdansk '84's new layout to conquer the battle royale. Here are Warzone's biggest changes and the best new locations that came with Season 3.

Warzone Season 3 Location: Gora Summit

Starting from the northwest of Verdansk, the frozen that was once found in the area has been replaced by a famed Black Ops locale. Raven Software has added Summit to the battle royale in collaboration with Treyarch, the developer in charge of the Black Ops series. The location has been slightly altered and made larger to fit Warzone but should be familiar to diehard fans of the franchise. The sprawling complex includes three cable car stations that can reach different buildings in the area and a river valley. Two helipads give squads aerial access to the Gora Summit.

Warzone Season 3 Location: Gora Viaduct

Warzone's frozen lake used to be flanked by the Dam, which included a bridge to reach the other side of the valley. There's still a bridge present in Season 3, but arching viaducts have replaced the once-iconic Dam. Further upstream, smaller dams have turned the area underneath the bridge into a lush grassland. The new Viaduct gives players more freedom to descend into the valley and ride vehicles underneath the bridge to reach other parts of Verdansk '84. The top of the bridge has remained a powerful sniper perch and gives users opportunities to ambush traveling squads from above it.

Warzone Season 3 Location: Salt Mine

South of the Gora Summit and Viaduct players will run into a dilapidated Salt Mine that eventually turned into Verdansk's Quarry in Warzone. The mine is found on the far west of the new map, and it includes several buildings and abandoned equipment found inside a small valley. The area might seem unassuming, but there's an air of mystery to Warzone's mine.

There are two entrances to the underground mine shaft, but they're currently inaccessible. Activision teased that this might change moving forward. In the description of the new location, the company said its two large entrances are "currently sealed," which suggests the mines could eventually be accessible to Warzone players.

Warzone Season 3: Grid Radar Array

The Grid Radar Array is the largest new landmark added to Warzone in the Season 3 update and is easily spotted when dropping into Verdansk. It's located northeast of the map's TV station, and its massive metal grid is impossible to miss. Most of the buildings in the area are on the smaller side, but its scaffolding-like metal structure provides plenty of opportunities to gain a high-ground advantage.

The metal structure is made of 12 interlinked cage towers stacked vertically on top of one another. Several levels have gantry platforms that are accessible via ladders or by parachute. Teams can use this point of interest to scout out enemies in the area or snipe opponents from a distance. Call of Duty: Warzone's Grid Radar doesn't provide much cover, so players should still be wary of aerial attacks.
