A Call of Duty: Warzone player recently posted a video revealing a glitch, which causes the camera's point of view to rise above players after using the combat bow. This is one of the latest reported bugs in a long line of glitches found in Raven Software’s popular free-to-play battle royale.
Warzone players have been requesting improvements to the game for a while, especially with regard to hackers and cheating. Recently, Activision announced it would bring a new anti-cheating system to both Warzone and the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard. Details are still vague, but Raven will reportedly reveal more information about the anti-cheat feature in the weeks prior to Vanguard's launch. Given the reality of Warzone's cheating issue - the game's kill feed now calls out hackers directly - these upcoming changes could be a step in the right direction. However, there are still exploitable glitches that possibly give players an edge in the competitive shooter.
Reddit user devon380 came across a glitch that changes the camera's angle following use of the combat bow. In their video, the devon380 takes aim at a window and fires the bow, only to have the first-person camera jump up a few virtual feet above the player’s character. After some confusion from the giant height difference, devon380 manages to get their avatar outside of the building with the camera somehow passing through the wall. It appears switching weapons can fix this glitch, allowing the camera back to return to its normal position. According to other Reddit users, players look normal from the perspective of teammates and enemies. One user wrote, "I had this happen just [two]days ago. From [a] third person perspective you look normal, your first person camera is just floating above your body oddly on your screen only."
According to other Warzone players, the combat bow glitch is not new. It is unclear what about the combat bow triggers the glitch in the first place. Some users claimed the bug occurs after using their final arrow, while another commented, "For me it happened after executing someone I downed with my bow, I believe I still had arrows left." The glitch is clearly not as exploitable as the recent hack that allowed Warzone players to teleport and fly across the map - it is likely this camera bug creates too much confusion to gain any sort of tactical advantage.
The combat bow glitch looks capable of being easily set off, especially for players who tend to rely on that specific weapon. Hopefully, Raven and Activision can patch this out in a future update while looking to deal with the battle royale’s notorious hackers in general. Call of Duty: Warzone players who are fans of the combat bow might have to hold off from firing the bow until then, or at least continuously switch their weapons to fix the glitched cameras.
