The Mini Royale mode in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, a variation of the game's traditional battle royale formula, is a blast to jump into, and is deserving of becoming a permanent feature in the game. Warzone 2 has solidified itself as a worthy successor to its previous iteration, now known as Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, primarily for bringing changes big and small to the game. Mini Royale is a perfect example of how the developers at Infinity Ward and Raven Software have discovered new ways to innovate on the first-person shooter.

Gameplay modes in Warzone 2 have showcased many of the newer features in the game, and have encouraged new ways to play the game for players new and returning. Warzone 2's Unhinged playlist utilizes new features like proximity chat and Assimilation to create never-before-seen bouts of socialization, team-building, and, unsurprisingly, devastating betrayals. Mini Royale, a new limited time mode with no current end date, innovates Warzone 2 in a different way: by greatly narrowing matches in player and map size for shorter, faster games.

Mini Royale matches in Warzone 2 downsize key aspects of the game's matches, creating an even more manic loot search as matches begin. Instead of 150 players, lobbies are limited to 75 players, and the game's expansive map area is already covered with a good amount of gas. Mini Royale matches also spawn less circles before matches end, further exacerbating the race to eliminate enemies and survive the game. The result is a decrease in match length, and an increase in first-person battle royale mayhem.

Warzone 2 avoids many of its predecessor's mistakes, and Mini Royale is another feature that, if made permanent, would push the Call of Duty: Warzone games even further. Players can experience less waiting and more action, as Mini Royale matches allow for shorter matches and more opportunities to be the top squad. The game mode turns the temperature up on any Warzone 2 match, and should stay with the game long into the future.

Warzone 2 Continues To Build On The Successes Of Warzone Caldera

Warzone 2 continues to improve on the foundation set by Warzone Caldera, and Mini Royale matches are a new feature worth preserving long-term. Despite so many other battle royale games, Warzone 2 has improved on the Warzone model and changed many aspects of the battle royale wars with Warzone 2's third-person gameplay, proximity chat, and Assimilation. If Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is going to continue to grow in the long-term, it needs more successful, permanent features like its Mini Royale mode.
