Netflix has renewed Simon Barry's occult-fantasy drama, Warrior Nun, for a season 2. The show, which premiered on the streaming service less than six weeks ago, is a loose televised rendition of Ben Dunn’s Warrior Nun Areala Manga series. Warrior Nun marks Portuguese actress Alba Baptista's English-language debut as Ava Silva. Baptista's Silva is a 19-year-old quadriplegic orphan, who is resurrected after a group of holy superheroes embeds a sacred artifact in her back. In this new life, Silva is now a part of the Order of the Cruciform Sword, and she must combat demons and forces that aim to seek control of her.

Showrunner Simon Barry announced the renewal in a post on the official Warrior Nun Twitter. The post featured a clip of Barry's video-conference with the Warrior Nun cast members, where he gives them the glad tidings of the show's renewal. Quite expectedly, Barry's announcement made the entire cast gleam with joy and excitement. A portion of the clip is also dedicated to Barry's conversation with Olivia Delcán. The actress pointed out that season 1's last fighting scene was her favorite in the show.

Warrior Nun season 1 had ended with the return of the devilish Adriel (William Miller), so season 2 will logically depict the creature as the main antagonist. The resolution of Ava and sisters' arc also means that there will be a lot of coordinated action in the upcoming season, and the religious, political, and relationship themes will also be explored in greater depth in Warrior Nun season 2.
