A new gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters shows off the upcoming title's tactical turn-based gameplay. The Warhammer 40,000 universe began as a miniature wargame created by Games Workshop, but it has since expanded into other media such as video games and novels. Back in June 2021 Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters was announced, with the title being created by Elite Dangerous developer Frontier Foundry.

Warhammer 40,000 is set within a brutal sci-fi universe, taking place around the 42nd millennium, where humanity is at constant war with a number of alien factions. Various video games have served to bring the tabletop setting to life in various ways, with Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters leaning into tactical turn-based combat. The game's cinematic teaser trailer featured the Grey Knights, a mysterious subsection of Space Marines tasked with combating daemonic entities and chaotic beings across the universe. While Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters will explore the Grey Knights using turn-based strategic combat, many other gaming genres have been explored through the Warhammer 40K franchise such as in the aerial combat title Dakka Squadron or the first-person shooter Necromunda: Hired Gun.

A new gameplay trailer for Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, released via YouTube, gives fans a closer look at the game's tactical turn-based combat system. The title's narrative, written by franchise scribe Aaron Dembski-Bowden, involves an all-consuming plague that must be eradicated by the Grey Knights. Players are able to assemble a strike force to head into battle against these daemonic forces, customizing characters and abilities along the way. The player's ship also appears to be a focus, as Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters has players planning their route across the galaxy and upgrading their ship along the way. Combat looks suitably intense, with the player's squad using their incredible strength to bust down doors and collapse environmental objects onto the enemy.

Alongside the turn-based combat of Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters and the aerial combat of Dakka Squadron, additional Warhammer 40,000 video games put even more unique spins on the franchise's universe. A cooperative first-person shooter titled Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was announced back in July 2020, but recently the game was delayed until spring 2022. The action-packed title will put players in the role of Imperial Guardsmen who must fight together to defeat overwhelming forces of Chaos.

A closer look at Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters portrays glorious turn-based combat that is worthy of the franchise's name. Members of the player's squad appear to be individually powerful, with environmental destruction showing off the size and scale of these sci-fi warriors. An in-depth ship system is also hinted at, suggesting that players will have the freedom to choose how and where they combat the daemonic forces. As a further expansion of the Warhammer 40K universe, Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters looks to add depth to the franchise's mysterious Grey Knight faction.
