In Warframe, ingenuity is rewarded; thinking outside of the box as well as experimentation can yield satisfying results. For that matter, a hidden wealth of information is usually available to those who have played the game for a considerable amount of time and are no longer considered newbies.

This information, of course, isn't explicitly stated by the free Steam game but can actually be lifesavers when it comes to the hectic in-game combat. They're so obscure and undeclared that some veteran players probably don't even know these 10 awesome things that can be done during gameplay.

THE GAME IS PAUSABLE ON SOLO

At its core, Warframe is a multiplayer co-op looter shooter that rewards teamwork better. Still, certain players who prefer solo flights and fights regardless of how difficult it can be are still given some sort of crutch.

This comes in the form of a pause-- which is something great in an online game. If players select the "solo" mode in the top left button of the mission selection interface, they'll be allowed to pause in the mission by pressing the menu key. Sadly, this doesn't work in the open-world maps.

FORCIBLY SHORTENING RELOAD TIME

One of the biggest disadvantages of guns in Warframe is the reload time. Longer reloads are actually deadly in endgame levels. It just so happens that reload animations are sometimes longer than the written reload description of the weapon.

Luckily, players can cancel reload animations by watching the ammo counter and then performing a roll or a quick melee once it refills regardless of the animation phase. Additionally, reload time can be sped up by pressing the reload button as soon as the magazine is empty instead of triggering the auto-reload with the fire button if playing on the console.

SILENT KILLS GIVE MORE AFFINITY

Once players have accumulated enough warframes and mods to make their own builds, they're confronted with the Forma grind. That means having to level up warframes and weapons all over again, which is a grueling process in co-op.

However, one can always do this solo efficiently by going stealthy with warframes like Loki and Ivara paired with silent weapons. That's because stealth kills or killing unaware enemies in Warframe reward a ton of affinity or experience points. It's a great alternative to running defense missions over and over again with players who might quit halfway through.

ROLLING WILL REDUCE DAMAGE BY A LOT

Rolling is one of the most underrated survivability boosts in Warframe and is a habit that ought to be trained. It's done by pressing the roll key which is usually "Shift" or the run button (for consoles too) in-game.

As it is, rolling prevents a plethora of damaging effects, mainly reducing the incoming damage by about 80 percent. It also prevents knockdowns which are can be lethal in high enough levels. Rolling into an enemy shockwave can even prevent knockdowns if done right.

KNOCKING DOWN ENEMIES WITH A SLIDE

Speaking of knockdowns, players can also dish out their own crowd control pain train against in-game enemies. Sliding while in midair triggers a kick animation. If this kick connects, then anything hit will get damaged by a small amount and will be knocked down.

Hence, performing a bullet-jump followed by a slide is a good way to create some artificial knockdown effects without relying on warframe abilities or weapons. The downside is that it can get risky and will put players in melee range.

BLOCKING IN MELEE PREVENTS KNOCKDOWNS

If players really hate knockdown that much but don't want to spend a precious mod slot for knockdown recovery mods, then they can go full melee and just block all the time. Blocking actually prevents knockdown effects.

Apart from reducing damage, any knockdown effect will trigger a blocking stagger which is still significantly shorter than taking the knockdown. There are also certain warframes like Rhino, Nezha, Valkyr, or Atlas that just shrug off knockdown effects.

PRIME WARFRAMES GET FREE ENERGY FROM VOID ORBS

As if players don't have enough reasons to salivate over prime warframes, here's one more. When prime warframes enter the Void or do missions in that godforsaken endgame area, the Orokin Death Orbs can give them free 250 energy.

It only works once per Death Orb but seeing as they're ubiquitous in Void missions, it's safe to say that prime warframes have no shortage of energy there. Couple it with the Zenurik tree, prime warframes become a powerhouse in the Void.

SHOOTING ENEMY PROJECTILES

Grineer and Corrupted Bombards are some of the most dangerous enemies in the game. They can literally one-shot the players with rockets and provide more reasons not to stay still in high-level missions.

Still, those rockets are quite slow-- slow enough to be shot. It's best to shoot them with hit-scan weapons in order to do it more safely, but Bombard rockets and some other slow-moving enemy projectiles can be shot in the air, thus preventing oncoming lethal damage.

INSTANT SOLO REVIVAL

One of the best in-game tests for warframe survivability is going solo in Mot in the Void and staying there for a minimum of 60 minutes. That's how boys turned into men back in the day in Warframe. Of course, other solo situations also count and one of the hardest challenges in instances like that would be the lack of revival outlets.

Solo player need not fear as certain AI companions such as the Corrupted Ancients or Healers can actually fill in a teammate's role. Their HP healing pulse can instantly revive a down player or their pet. The challenge is keeping them alive in high-level missions.

CROUCHING BEFORE REVIVING TEAMMATES

In regards to reviving, and this time in co-op mode, players can perform a bit of self-preservation while doing it for a teammate. All they have to do is crouch or press the crouch key before pressing the revive key on their downed teammate.

This actually reduces the hitbox of the players. While pressing revive and skipping the crouch button is shorter, this doesn't reduce the hitbox to crouch quantity. In any case, feel free to try these awesome hidden tips for Warframe and make them a habit.
