Blizzard Entertainment's upcoming mobile title, Warcraft Arclight Rumble, has already been deemed a Clash of Clans knockoff in some circles. Hints about a Warcraft-branded mobile game made the rounds earlier this year, courtesy of a report from journalist Jason Schreier that claimed such an experience would launch sometime in 2022. Blizzard later confirmed plans to share concrete details about the mobile project in May.

Of course, this doesn't mark Blizzard Entertainment's first foray into the mobile space. In 2014, for instance, the developer and publisher hit pay dirt upon rolling out free-to-play collectible card game Hearthstone, which further expanded the magical world of Warcraft on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS platforms. And Diablo Immortal serves as the company's next major release, since the free-to-play action RPG will land on mobile devices and PC this coming June.

Yesterday, May 3, Blizzard showcased a first look at its brand-new mobile game, Warcraft Arclight Rumble, a fast-paced strategy title set in the expansive World of Warcraft universe. While Android users can pre-register on the official Warcraft Arclight Rumble website, details about its potential release remain under lock and key. Viewers have taken notice of one thing, though - this upcoming Warcraft experience seems to bear a lot in common with Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. YouTube comments beneath the gameplay trailer draw comparisons to the Supercell-developed games, for example. And Reddit user Saerjin started a thread asking if anyone else noticed the Clash of Clans influence. Several responses likened Warcraft Arclight Rumble to Clash Royale, specifically.

One look at the trailer and it's clear to see why some have referred to Arclight Rumble as Clash Royale with Warcraft characters thrown into the mix. Now the question is how exactly Blizzard Entertainment plans to carve out its own path while also borrowing from the Clash of Clans playbook. If the studio does intend to release its new World of Warcraft experience this year, fans may not have to wait too much longer to receive specifics about gameplay.

This announcement comes on the heels of Blizzard officially unveiling the Dragonflight expansion for World of Warcraft proper. The eagerly-anticipated content currently lacks a solid release date, yet PC players can look forward to an overhauled user interface, revamped mechanics, Dragonriding, new Evoker class, and the playable dragon/humanoid hybrid race known as Dracthyr. Needless to say, Warcraft has a busy year ahead of it.
