WandaVision's Paul Bettany hasn't given up hope on returning as Vision opposite Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bettany has had a wild journey with Marvel, first joining the MCU as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. in the studio's inaugural film Iron Man. The cameo role was essentially a favor to his friend Jon Favreau, who directed the 2008 blockbuster. Bettany made a lasting impression on Favreau and the entire production, as they tapped him to appear onscreen seven years later as Vision, a synthezoid made of vibranium, in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Bettany went on to appear as Vision in Captain America: Civil WarAvengers: Infinity War, and, most recently, WandaVision. It wasn't until the latter that the actor truly got to step into the spotlight. He and lead Elizabeth Olsen helped stitch Marvel's first streaming series onto the fabric of television history, earning much acclaim. The Disney+ show showcases Wanda and Vision's relationship through the lens of classic television sitcoms. Although it bows out with a somber farewell to Bettany's character, the show teases that another version of Vision lives on somewhere and Bettany would love to play it.

The Emmy nominee told Deadline that he hasn't given up hope on returning to the MCU just yet. Recalling the incredible time he had working on WandaVision specifically, he coyly told the publication:

“It was a beautiful culmination for all these things Lizzie and I have done together. We really found a lane for ourselves, and this was different in tone from those movies. But you never know with Marvel, whether you’re done, or not. So I don’t want to call it the end yet. This was one of the most creative experiences of my life, joyful and free, making this show. To see it embraced by an audience the way it was, was so wonderful.”

While on one hand, Bettany thinks of WandaVision as a beautiful ending to his character's journey, he clearly isn't ready to hang up his hero suit. But thanks to the show's introduction of White Vision, he might not have to. Vision and White Vision go head to head in the finale, nearly fighting to the death. The Vision that exists in Wanda's memories is then infused into the new host, with White Vision's final line being: "I am Vision." Ultimately, White Vision's fate is left open-ended, leaving room for Bettany to don the suit once again in a future project.

After WandaVision, it seems pretty certain that Vision will return to the MCU in some shape or form. What's most unclear is the timing. Marvel is known for its surprise twists, so fans can bet that whenever the Mind Stone-powered entity flies back onto their screen it'll be a memorable moment. Although WandaVision season 2 is unlikely according to the powers that be, hopefully Wanda and Vision will get their TV-perfect happy ending down the line.
