Based on what's been revealed about Vision prior to his existence in Westview, he's still supposed to be dead in WandaVision - but aside from his mysterious resurrection, it's also a wonder why the show has two versions of his corpse. The synethezoid's death in Avengers: Infinity War could very well be the catalyst to the Maximoff Anomaly as it's clear that the pocket reality was motivated by Scarlet Witch's grief and loneliness. As the Marvel Studios series enters its final few episodes, more information about its overall narrative, including details about Vision's real state, is being revealed.

Vision's existence in Westview is an important element in Wanda's hex; but while he's fully functioning, it's been repeatedly emphasized on WandaVision that he's indeed dead. In WandaVision episode 4, his remains were revealed to be with SWORD before Scarlet Witch came in and took it away. Later in the same episode, he appeared to be gray, with a massive hole in his forehead — the same way he looked after Thanos plucked the Mind Stone from his head in Infinity War. Both instances backed up the idea that Vision is gone, but raised additional questions as to why he was shown dead in two different ways.

In SWORD's CCTV footage, Vision's body was on a metal table with scientists seemingly experimenting on him just before Wanda busted them and took his remains with her. However, the synthezoid was barely distinguishable with his limbs separated from his body. Even if his parts were re-assembled by Wanda, the result still wouldn't look like Vision, as only his skeleton was left from his original body. This also explains why in WandaVision episode 6 when he tried to leave the hex, pieces of his flesh were being torn away from his body; had he successfully traversed the barrier, it would've likely revealed what is left of his actual physical form. The other look at a dead Vision, in contrast, appears to be a reflection of Wanda's traumatic memory of him dying.

Wandavision Visions body Wanda

WandaVision's second version of Vision's corpse came via Scarlet Witch's perspective after she got rid of Geraldine. The first time this scene played out on episode 3, Vision's appearance never changed; only when the scene played out again once the outside world was established did he look like his corpse from Infinity War. Considering that this was the first time in the series that Wanda was confronted with the reality of her life following Monica Rambeau's comment about Pietro's death in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the change in Vision's appearance may have been brought about by being distracted from the illusion that she's living in Westview. And since this was Wanda's last memory of Vision before she was blipped out, this was also his physical state that crept into the pocket reality from her suppressed memory.

Interestingly, however, Agnes knows that Vision is supposed to be dead; she's aware of his life as an Avenger before Westview, as well — something that the synthezoid has no recollection of. This means that that the main version of the character in WandaVision is also technically a corpse despite seemingly fully-functioning. With that, it's curious how he's able to operate normally, especially since he's also equipped with superpowers like flying and taking the people of Westview out of their hypnotized state.
