Marvel's first Disney+ series WandaVision gets an official January premiere date. Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, WandaVision will see Scarlet Witch and Vision settling into a perfect sitcom-inspired life following the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, something's not quite right with their picture of domestic bliss, largely because Vision himself was killed in Avengers: Infinity War. While much of WandaVision's story is being kept tightly under wraps, it's clear Wanda and Vision's idyllic life won't stay that way forever.

At the start of this year, the plan was for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to be the first MCU-set series to debut on the streaming service, with WandaVision premiering in December. However, the coronavirus pandemic altered the MCU's plans and bumped up WandaVision on the lineup. With the first trailer arriving back in September, fans expected WandaVision to debut on Disney+ by the end of the year, particularly since it was included in the streamer's 2020 trailer. However, that's no longer the case.

Marvel Studios has officially announced the long-awaited premiere date for WandaVision. Instead of watching it by the end of this year, fans will get to see the series comes to life on January 15, 2021. As of today, that's a little over two months away. Accompanying the announcement is a new moving poster, which offers quick glimpses of both Vision and Wanda. Check it out below.

The January date is much later than fans were anticipating, and though it's a little disappointing to have to wait so much longer for WandaVision, the fact that we now have a date at all is thrilling. With WandaVision officially moving to 2021, this means 2020 will be the first year since 2009 when fans haven't received a new piece of MCU content. The coronavirus pandemic delayed movies like Black Widow and Eternals, and with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier similarly postponed, WandaVision had been Marvel fans' last hope for 2020. At the very least, the fact that WandaVision will premiere relatively early in 2021 is a positive. This way, the year can get off to a good start.

This week has featured plenty of new WandaVision information, from fresh images of Wanda and Vision in their 1950s lifestyle to various stories from set. With its sitcom format and the mere presence of a deceased Vision, WandaVision is easily one of the most intriguing MCU projects to arrive in recent years. With it premiering in January, Marvel fans will get to watch Wanda and Vision's perfect-then-not-perfect life unfold well into February (provided Disney+ keeps with its weekly releases). This can help tide them over until Black Widow drops in May, though there's a chance The Falcon and the Winter Soldier could arrive before then too. Nevertheless, fans finally know when to expect this series, and that's reason to celebrate.
