In celebration of the show’s anniversary, WandaVision star Teyonah Parris shares a behind-the-scenes video of her first day on the Marvel Cinematic Universe set. In the wake of Avengers: Endgame, Phase 4 of the MCU marked a new era for Marvel Studios, and Disney+’s first live-action MCU series, WandaVision, set an impressive precedent for the shows that would follow. Jac Schaeffer’s miniseries saw Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) create an idyllic, sitcom-esque reality in a subconscious attempt to be with her lost love, Vision (Paul Bettany). It also starred Kathryn Hahn, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, Jett Klyne, Julian Hilliard, and the aforementioned Parris.

In episode 2, “Don’t Touch That Dial,” Parris is introduced as Geraldine, a new neighbor of Wanda and Vision’s in Westview. However, in episode 4, “We Interrupt This Program,” it’s revealed that Geraldine is actually S.W.O.R.D. agent Monica Rambeau, who investigated Westview’s Hex, traversed its barrier, and became a prisoner of Wanda’s sitcom reality. After Geraldine was abruptly ejected from the Hex, Darcy Lewis (Dennings) warns Monica about the colossal amount of CMBR that has "rewritten [her] cells on a molecular level twice" - which foreshadowed Monica’s journey in WandaVision and the larger MCU.

January 15 marked the anniversary of WandaVision episodes 1 & 2 becoming available on Disney+, and many people involved with the production have been celebrating online. In the latest commemorative post, Parris takes to social media to share a BTS video from her first day on the MCU set. The clip sees her in Geraldine’s '70s clothing, dancing to era-appropriate tunes. Check it out below:

Like Marvel Studios’ Disney+ shows that would follow it, WandaVision set the stage for a handful of other projects. For example, Olsen will be returning as Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - where she will likely continue her search for Tommy and Billy - and Hahn will be appearing in her own spinoff series Agatha: House of Harkness. On top of that, Parris is set to have a (literally) bright future in the MCU.

After being tossed out of the Hex and then forcefully reentering it, Monica’s physiology mutated, giving her the abilities of energy absorption - her eyes turned blue and she displayed powers while confronting Wanda. In the comics, Monica becomes the superheroes known as Photon, Spectrum, and eventually Captain Marvel. That being said, WandaVision’s final mid-credits scene sets up Monica’s role in Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels, where she will team up with her mother’s old friend Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) as well as Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park). The film will also see the big-screen debut of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), who will be introduced on the small screen sometime this year.
