Marvel won't rule out a possible second season of WandaVision. The Elizabeth Olsen-led series is the MCU's first foray into streaming and it's been quite the success.  WandaVision broke with the MCU's typical format, entering a world where Wanda processes her grief through creating a sitcom life for herself and her dead boyfriend, Vision. What began as a trip through the eras of sitcoms past has now become a full-blown Marvel movie, with last week's game-changing twist altering everything.

As WandaVision moves into its endgame, everyone is wondering about the future of Scarlet Witch. Olsen is already confirmed to appear alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but whether she'll be a friend or a foe remains unclear. Scarlet Witch's future beyond that is uncertain, but as one of the most powerful and underrated characters in the MCU, it seems like Marvel is not done with her yet.

Studio president, Kevin Feige, revealed (via Alex Zalben) that a WandaVision season 2 is not off the table. The producer says that he's been working at Marvel too long to rule anything out. Feige does say, however, that shows they are currently shooting do lead into a second season more elegantly than WandaVision will. He says that ultimately they are developing these shows like they develop their movies, one step at a time, and that he hopes to one day get to a five season series.

Feige's comments are interesting, especially considering the context of the series.  WandaVision is already confirmed to be leading into the Doctor Strange sequel, which could act as a second season of sorts. The way things are going in the MCU right now,  WandaVision seems to be setting up a lot more than just a second season. If, like many are speculating, the show ends by breaking the Multiverse open, then WandaVision acts more as a set-up for the entirety of Phase 4 of the MCU. A second season would have to be something else entirely.

Considering the fact that WandaVision's format is so unique, it would also be hard to build a second season off of the first in the same way. If, and when, we get a WandaVision season 2, it's likely to look a lot different than its current iteration. Marvel would have to do away with the sitcom format and, without Vision, the series would no longer focus on the titular pair as a couple, but on Scarlet Witch herself. WandaVision seems perfect as a one-off and while a second season isn't impossible, it seems like it would be more a spiritual successor following Scarlet Witch rather than a direct follow-up to what is currently airing.
