Marvel's WandaVision sees Wanda Maximoff making the same mistakes as Tony Stark in Avengers: Age of UltronThe series as a whole saw Wanda grappling with her grief over Vision's death in problematic ways, initially using her powers to inadvertently take control of an entire town in New Jersey, shifting its entire reality to fit into her subconscious wishes for a happy ending and sitcom life with Vision. While it wasn't her direct intention, she allowed her powers and hex of energy around the town to persist, convincing herself that the victims of Westview were happier and better off than they were before her arrival. In a similar vein, this was a flaw of Tony Stark in Age of Ultron, where he wasn't able to recognize the detriments he could cause in his efforts to protect the world.

"Ultron can't see the difference between saving the world and destroying it. Where do you think he gets that?"

This was a line spoken by Wanda herself, referencing the fact that Tony Stark's creation of Ultron came from his desire to create a peacekeeping program to keep the world safe from future threats. Furthermore, despite then knowing the risks after Ultron began wreaking havoc as a rogue A.I, Tony sought to do the same thing again by creating the Vision. While his intentions were still good, he crossed the line even after he'd found where it was. Thankfully, the second attempt had a positive outcome that led to Ultron's defeat and the birth of a new hero, but it doesn't change the fact that Stark ignored the evident risks which could have harmed and endangered the world even further.

Ironically, Wanda has now done the same thing in Marvel's WandaVision. Convincing herself that what she was doing to Westview was positive, she soon came to realize the truth of all the pain she was causing to the town's residents with her chaos magic as the Scarlet Witch. While she did let go of Vision and the family she had created in order to free the town, the end of the series seems to suggest she's likewise continuing to cross lines despite clearly having found them. In WandaVision's final post-credits sceneWanda is trying to understand and control her powers, but she's doing so by reading from the Darkhold, otherwise known as the Book of the Damned, which can't lead to anything good.

Scarlet Witch in WandaVision Finale Post-Credits Scene

While Wanda's goals are seemingly as well-intentioned as Tony Stark's were with Ultron and then Vision, they both ignored the inherent risks involved. Neither of them can tell the difference between harming and helping, saving or destroying. Furthermore, even when they do recognize the detriment and consequences of their actions, they're still prone to making the same mistakes all over again.

As Wanda's journey continues on into Phase 4 of the MCU, it's going to be interesting to see what will result from her use of the Darkhold. During the same post-credits scene, Wanda also heard the voice of her lost children Billy and Tommy crying out for help. Perhaps she'll be trying to save them with her chaos magic, while causing new dangers in the MCU? It's been reported that the Scarlet Witch will be featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As such, it's very possible that Wanda herself might unleash the madness trying to good, just like Iron Man unleashed Ultron trying to protect the world. With WandaVision having concluded, Marvel fans will just have to wait and see as the future of the MCU unfolds.
