How Old Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver Are In WandaVision

By WandaVision, the ages of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver differ even though they are twins. Things get even more complicated when you factor in the fact that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) died thanks to Thanos' (Josh Brolin) Infinity Gauntlet snap and was resurrected 5 years later by the Blip, thanks to Smart Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the Avengers' Infinity Gauntlet.

Of course, Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) was introduced and died in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But in WandaVision, Pietro was resurrected in the body of Evan Peters, who played a different version of Quicksilver in Fox's X-Men movies. Wanda has no explanation for why her dead twin brother is not only back but looks different. But new face or no, Pietro seems to have enough knowledge of his past with Wanda that his sister is momentarily placated that he just might be the real deal. However, it does get very weird that Wanda and Pietro are technically no longer the same age and have wildly different levels of life experience by virtue of Scarlet Witch living longer than Quicksilver did.

WandaVision episode 5, "On a Very Special Episode", established some important background information about the Maximoff twins during S.W.O.R.D.'s briefing about Scarlet Witch. Wanda and Pietro were born in 1989 in Sokovia to Oleg and Irina Maximoff. Their parents were killed when they were ten; according to Wanda, they grew up in an orphanage (where another boy liked to steal Pietro's books) before the twins were radicalized and joined Hydra. Thanks to experiments with the Mind Stone, Wanda and Pietro gained superpowers. They fought the Avengers and joined Ultron (James Spader) before they turned on the homicidal android and joined forces with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but Pietro was killed during the Battle of Sokovia. Since Avengers: Age of Ultron happened in 2015, both Wanda and Pietro were 26 years old when he died and she returned to the United States to become an Avenger.

Although Wanda was a survivor, things got more complicated for her. The Sokovia Accords were created due to a tragic mistake she made in Lagos, Nigeria in 2016, and Scarlet Witch became an international criminal (again) when she refused to sign and joined Team Cap. Wanda was 27 since Captain America: Civil War happened a year after Age of Ultron. Then came Avengers: Infinity War, where Wanda was Snapped out of existence by Thanos along with half of all life in the universe.

Wanda was 28 when she died - and she remains 28 in WandaVision, which takes place just a couple of weeks after Scarlet Witch and all of Thanos' Snap victims were resurrected by the Blip in Avengers: Endgame. However, five years passed in between Thanos' Snap and the end of Avengers: Endgame, and the year is now 2023 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's timeline. So technically, Wanda should be about 33 in WandaVision - and Pietro would be as well if he lived. Instead, Pietro seems to be the same age he was when he died, which makes him still 26. Weirdly, Pietro is now the younger of the Maximoff twins by virtue of Wanda living two extra years before she died in the Snap.

Meanwhile, Wanda is really robbing the cradle with her husband Vision (Paul Bettany), who was created during Age of Ultron in 2015. In fact, he even told Ultron at the end that he was "born yesterday". So, Vision was only 3 years old when Thanos killed him in Infinity War - but the Synthezoid's corpse is actually 8 years old by the time Wanda stole it from S.W.O.R.D. and magically resurrected him within The Hex in Westview, New Jersey before WandaVision began. Some fans may be a bit surprised that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were in the mid-twenties and might have assumed they were even younger. After all, during Captain America: Civil War, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) said that Wanda was "just a kid". But then again, Captain America was technically 98 years during Civil War so everyone was "a kid" to Old Man Cap.
