Wanda's traumatic past with her twin brother, Pietro, will be explored in WandaVision. Three episodes in and the Marvel Studios show is finally dropping more clues about what's really going on in Westview — the town Scarlet Witch and Vision moved in to live a simple family life. But amidst the lighthearted moments inspired by sitcoms of yesteryears, it's clear that there's a  bigger narrative unraveling and it could ultimately end in tragedy.

Since moving into Westview, Wanda and Vision have been able to keep up the charade that they're nothing but a newly-married couple who simply wants to settle in the town. Albeit a couple of mishaps, they've somehow made themselves fit in, even making a couple of friends along the way, not to mention expanding their family with the birth of Tommy and Billy. There was a chilling shift, however, in WandaVision episode 3 when the death of Pietro at the hands of  Ultron was first mentioned in years, effectively reminding Wanda of that heartbreaking tragedy in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Expect that this won't be the last time that WandaVision will mention Pietro with showrunner Jac Schaeffer telling The Wrap that the series will further explore both title characters' arcs in the MCU thus far, including all the traumatic ones. This will make it easier to understand their motivations and perspectives in the show.

“The show is about Wanda and Vision and it’s an opportunity to dig deeper into who they are. And that has to do with where they come from. We’re all a product of our experiences and our trauma and our relationships. And so we will be exploring all of those details of their pasts as we move forward.”

WandaVision officially runs for nine episodes which means that there are only six more outings before the ongoing season is over, although there are rumbles about continuing the show past that. Given that, there's enough time to fully tackle the death of Pietro. After Quicksilver's death in Age of Ultron, Marvel Studios really hasn't revisited the tragedy as the franchise's narrative moved on to setting up Thanos' arrival. The franchise hasn't even shown how Wanda dealt with his demise as after the Sokovia incident, she busied herself by officially becoming an Avenger. Given this, it's unknown if she even properly processed her grief or she simply buried it inside of her. While her reaction to Geraldine knowing about the tragedy was merely because she busted her for being an outsider in Westview, it's also possible that this brought back the painful memory — something that she tried so long to forget.

So considering this confirmation, does this mean that Pietro will make an appearance in WandaVision? There have been persistent rumors that Marvel Studios will be bringing back the character in one way or another and this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Aside from the narrative implications, it's also worth noting that Wanda has the ability to alter reality so she can conjure him up in Westview, potentially just like she did with Vision. If Pietro won't have any physical presence, however, the show can still tackle his death and its effects on her sister in other ways; after all, WandaVision's bizarre commercials are seemingly already doing that.
