WandaVision's Quicksilver "actor," Ralph Bohner, almost had a different name. The first Marvel show to release as part of the MCU's Phase 4, WandaVision concluded in March after quite a successful season on Disney+. With each episode taking place in a different era of classic American sitcoms, the show unfolded to reveal that Wanda had created a sitcom world to process her grief over Vision's death in Avengers: Infinity War, as well as the death of her parents and brother, Pietro. Over the course of the eight episodes, the show also saw the return of MCU characters, Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), as well as the shocking reveal of Evan Peters as Pietro Maximoff in the fifth episode.

The reveal had both fans and Wanda herself confused, as she remembered Pietro looking a little differently. Of course, Peters' entrance into the show was a meta twist for fans as he played Quicksilver in the X-Men films, while Aaron Taylor-Johnson played him in the MCU. He is eventually revealed as a villain at the end of the penultimate episode when he captures Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). However, in the finale episode, Monica discovers documents and bills around "Pietro's," house where she is being held captive, revealing his real identity to be an actor named Ralph Bohner. A Westview resident under Agatha's (Kathryn Hahn) control, Ralph is eventually freed by Monica.

In an interview with Collider, Parris spoke about the Ralph Bohner scene, revealing that the name changed a few times before they settled on the comical name that she would have to say. She said that there were other funny options, but Ralph Bohner was the clear winner.

Even on the day there was another option. I might have said it for the camera. They’re like, ‘Just throw this in, just in case,’ but I can’t remember what it was. None topped Bohner, I’ll tell you that. That was very like, ‘Okay! We’re going for the Bohner!

Wanda and Quicksilver in WandaVision

The "Ralph Bohner" scene received mixed reactions from fans. With so many theories tossed around about who Peters' character really was and how he could be Pietro in both the MCU and Fox's X-Men or just a new Pietro from the multiverse, some fans were left disappointed after going down rabbit holes only to get a childish gag. After all, Phase 4 will clearly involve the multiverse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will see the return of Scarlet Witch. However, others felt that the Bohner bit was a funny joke and a good twist for the show's story.

While there was plenty of speculation about how Peters' Quicksilver fit into the MCU since his first appearance, the Bohner joke was pretty unexpected and funny. It's understandable that fans would be disappointed that his real identity was nothing more than just an average Westview resident with a goofy name, yet it still fit into the weirdness of WandaVision.
