An upcoming theme song for WandaVision will be sung by a surprise guest, according to the show's songwriters. The Disney+ Marvel limited series follows magical superhero Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and the android Vision (Paul Bettany) as a happily married couple living in suburban America decades in the past. The first episode was set in the '50s and parodied sitcoms of the time. Each subsequent episode leaps forward another decade, depicting a seemingly perfect life that masks a sinister reality.

So far, each episode has drastically changed to match the era, including revamped sets and costumes, mock advertisements, and with episode 3's leap to the seventies, a shift to color. Additionally, the theme song of each episode parodies jingles of the day. Episode 2 included an entire animated recreation in the style of the title sequence from Bewitched. More than just a layer of texture to the primetime pastiche, music hints at the truth behind the fantasy. WandaVision episode 3's credits song, for instance, included a clue regarding the secret behind the sitcom world.

The show's songwriters, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, told Entertainment Weekly that one of the show's upcoming parody theme songs will feature a contemporary vocalist. The married maestros originated such instant classics as "Let It Go" from Frozen and "Remember Me" from Coco. They called the '80s the most fun decade to work on as it was the "heyday" of catchy sitcom themes. While discussing their process, Anderson-Lopez revealed that a guest star would be bringing "a lot of authenticity" to an upcoming track. Read her full quote below:

"The fun thing is that our voices are on a lot of it. Because of the pandemic, we couldn't do a lot of recording live. It's mostly us singing the solos with a wonderful group of backup singers, so that's a fun thing to look for. I can't spoil it, but there is a guest star on a decade that really brought a lot of authenticity."

Given the duo's affection for the '80s theme, it's certainly possible that the guest star will be an '80s legend. Even today, people who remember the '80s and music fans born years later are infatuated by the neon aesthetic of the decade. Lopez and Anderson-Lopez previously stated that the '90s theme for WandaVision was the hardest decade to write for because they were both at college during that time and didn't have access to a television as often. Perhaps a special guest was brought in to spice the theme up.

There's no telling just yet when we'll be hearing this exciting guest star, but it will certainly add to the ongoing mystery. Perhaps the special guest is another Marvel character evoking the era or a popular star. Whether it's a celebrity in our universe or Wanda's, their inclusion could indicate a shift in the invented world. If the sitcom universe of WandaVision is more than just Wanda's fantasy, who else may be trapped in her world?
