After the expectation-shattering finale, the Marvel and Disney Plus runaway hit series WandaVision has left fans scratching their heads. As it currently stands, series director Matt Shakman has stated that there are no imminent plans to make a second season on Disney Plus, although the idea isn't completely out of the realm of possibility down the line.

Instead, the story of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), aka The Scarlet Witch, is expected to resume on the big screen through various MCU tentpole releases that were hinted at in the finale's post-credits. However, the news hasn't prevented fans from postulating about what may transpire in WandaVision Season 2.

If the second season of WandaVision is made on Disney Plus, fans believe it won't likely happen until after the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022. Elizabeth Olsen is already confirmed to reprise her role as Wanda in the Sam Raimi-directed film.

In the ninth episode of WandaVision, aptly titled "The Series Finale," Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) evokes the name of Dr. Strange while reading his spellbook Darkhold. Later, Wanda reveals she can separate herself from her alter ego through Dr. Strange's trademark astral projection.

Monica Will Become New SWORD Director

According to Matt Shakman, Monica Rambeau's (Teyonah Parris) storyline will be continued in Captain Marvel 2, tentatively set for a 2022 release. If so, fans have theorized that Monica will become the new Director of SWORD or SHIELD.

Monica's mother, Maria, not only founded SWORD, but she was also a close friend of Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. In the WandaVision finale, former SWORD Director Tyler Hayward was arrested by the FBI, opening the door for Monica to become the top boss.

Ralph Was Responsible

Pietro uses blender in WandaVision

WandaVision made a habit of introducing protagonists as villains and antagonists as heroes. As such, fans have begun to wonder whether Ralph Bohner (Evan Peters) was the one responsible for the evil actions attributed to Agnes (aka Agatha).

Under the so-called dominion of Agatha, Ralph poses as Wanda's brother, Pietro. In the finale, the ruse is exposed and Ralph is freed from Agatha's power. This has led to theories that Ralph will be revealed as the true villain who will use his power to help free Agatha from The Hex.

X-Men Crossover

Considering that The Scarlet Witch is Magneto's daughter, some fans have also speculated that a legitimate X-Men/Avengers crossover will take place should WandaVision 2 be made. The fact that Evan Peters (Pietro/Ralph) already played Quicksilver in the X-Men canon adds an interesting wrinkle to the theory.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that Peters was recast as Pietro after Aaron Taylor-Johnson died as the character in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The X-Men being involved doesn't seem far-fetched.

Agatha's Revenge

Agnes in witch costume in WandaVision

If WandaVision 2 is ever produced, fans feel strongly that a vengeful return of Agatha Harkness is in the cards. At the end of the series, Wanda consigned her witchy adversary to a powerless life-sentence inside the soul-crushing Hex.

As one of the clear standouts of the series, failing to bring back Kathryn Hahn as Agnes Harkness would be a travesty in the eyes of most fans. Even if she returns in a way that benefits Wanda's inevitable return to Westview, Agatha's return is expected in some form or fashion.

The Scarlet Witch Vs. Mephisto

While some fans have labeled it a MacGuffin, others have taken a sly reference to the devilish Mephisto throughout WandaVision as a potential clash in season 2. In the comics, Wanda has a longheld connection to Mephisto.

For instance, Wanda was able to breathe life into her twin boys Billy and Tommy by siphoning energy from Mephisto's soul. Between the final post-credits scene that hints at the twins' future involvement and the recurring motif of demons and devils (Halloween), a Scarlet Witch/Mephisto showdown could transpire.

Wanda Empowered By Mind Stone Or Not

Since events in WandaVision take place immediately after those depicted in Avengers: Endgame, many have begun to wonder exactly when Wanda was bestowed powers from the Mind Stone.

The show intimates that Wanda earned her powers from the Mind Stone upon touching the Infinity Stone. However, during the flashback to her childhood, Wanda is shown to have the power to forge a "probability hex" around her and Pietro to protect them from an incoming bomb.

The White Vision

If WandaVision 2 ever exists, fans have postulated the inevitable return of the mysterious White Vision (Paul Bettany), Hayward's evil lab creation shown during in the mid-credits of episode eight.

When White Vision suddenly vanishes after an encounter with the real Vision, his storyline is left open to be expounded upon. White Vision's primary objective is to annihilate Vision inside The Hex, necessitating a close to the open-ended subplot.

Billy & Tommy's Return

Considering the off-screen voices of Billy and Tommy heard during the finale's post-credits scene, fans are almost certain that they will return as young adults by the time WandaVision 2 would be made.

In comic lore, Billy and Tommy grow up to lead the Young Avengers as Wiccan and Speed, superheroes who assume the powers of Wanda and Pietro. Therefore, it's no stretch to anticipate them becoming the main protagonists at some point in the MCU future.

Wanda Is A Nexus Being

Wanda summons power outside in WandaVision.

In the Marvel comics, the "Nexus of all Realities" refers to a fulcrum from which travelers of the multiverse can pick and choose which alternate reality to enter. In episode seven of WandaVision, an ad for the antidepressant Nexus could be a hint that Wanda is a Nexus Being.

The theory is bolstered by Wanda's study of the Darkhold, her astral projection at the end of the series, and her impending appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda's status as a Nexus Being could be the subject of WandaVision 2.
