WandaVision episode 7 has arrived, bringing some major twists and hanging questions as the MCU series gears up for its climax. The previous episode saw Vision attempt to leave the Westview Hex, only to begin rapidly dying once he stepped beyond its barrier. In response, Scarlet Witch channeled an impressive display of power and expanded her reality-altering bubble far beyond its previous boundary, engulfing most of the SWORD headquarters set up outside.

WandaVision episode 7, which pulls sitcom stylings from more recent hits like The Office and Parks and Recreation, starts right where the last left off. Dr. Darcy Lewis fills Vision in on his life and death pre-Westview, and the two begin making their way back to Wanda, who seems to be losing her grip on the illusion she’s created. Desperate for some peace, she allows her neighbor Agnes to take the twins to her house for the afternoon. Outside the Hex, Monica Rambeau attempts to reenter Westview and reach Wanda, ultimately succeeding in an impressive effort that seems to grant her supernatural abilities. In the final scene, Agnes brings Wanda to her house to calm down, where the former discovers a sprawling, cavernous labyrinth in the basement. Agnes then reveals her true identity as the witch Agatha Harkness, who seems to have been pulling strings in Westview from the beginning.

The Agatha Harkness twist has been suspected by comic book fans for some time, but it’s still a major shift in the world of WandaVision. The witch’s intentions and motivations have yet to be revealed, and Monica’s new powers are yet another piece of the mystery. Here are all of the biggest questions, possible answers, and likely theories after WandaVision episode 7.

What Does Agatha Harkness Want?

WandaVision Agnes Agatha Harkness

The musical montage as Agatha's theme song at the end of WandaVision episode 7 shows a number of earlier moments in the show, all of which seem to have actually been manipulated by Agatha Harkness. The witch is a key character in Scarlet Witch’s comic book history, but it’s unclear as of now why exactly Agatha is doing what she’s doing. The comics’ version of Agatha is a friend and mentor of sorts to Wanda, helping her grow stronger in her chaos magic abilities. This time around, though, it seems like Agatha is out for more nefarious ends. If she was indeed behind the Westview illusion – somehow convincing Wanda to create the Hex – she must have a deeper reason. That reason could be tied to another one of WandaVision episode 7’s biggest mysteries.

What Does The Nexus Commercial Mean?

WandaVision Marvel Nexus of All Realities

The commercial in WandaVision episode 7 is for an antidepressant called “Nexus,” a potential reference to several aspects of the comics. Primarily, the word “nexus” invokes both the Nexus of All Realities – a liminal space in the multiverse where all possible realities meet – and the Nexus Beings – incredibly powerful figures in different realities who have the ability to affect the flow of time and events. Scarlet Witch is the Nexus Being of Earth-616 in the comics, which gives her sway over broader multiverse happenings and makes her a key source of mystical energy in her own reality.

The labyrinthine basement of Agatha’s house and the purple veins emanating through it could suggest some sort of nexus point beneath Westview itself. That could explain how Evan Peters’s Quicksilver was brought into the MCU and why Wanda’s powers seem to be amplified. Alternatively, or possibly in addition, the “nexus” reference could suggest Scarlet Witch’s status as a Nexus Being is coming to the MCU. Either way, the invocation of the nexus might explain why Agatha is so focused on manipulating, and possibly siphoning energy from Scarlet Witch.

What Happened To Tommy And Billy?

Kathryn Hahn as Agnes Agatha Harkness Julian Hilliard as Billy Maximoff Jett Klyne as Tommy Maximoff WandaVision

WandaVision episode 7 ends before revealing the fates of Tommy and Billy. So where did WandaVision's twins go? They were last seen snacking and watching TV at Agatha’s house, but they were nowhere to be seen when Wanda arrived. If Agatha has been fostering Monica’s illusion to siphon some sort of power, she could be using Tommy and Billy to a similar end. The twins have already revealed themselves to be incredibly powerful, and in the comics that strength is partially attributed to their mother being a Nexus Being. At the very least, Tommy and Billy are probably safe for the time being. Though their initial fates in the comics are a bit grim, it’s unlikely WandaVision would have written them out off-screen. Their fates should be revealed as Agatha’s intentions unveil themselves.

What Are Monica Rambeau’s Powers?

Monica Rambeau Powers in WandaVision

Upon crossing the Westview Hex barrier for the third time, Monica Rambeau emerges with curious abilities. Her eyes glow blue, and she sees the world temporarily through an odd, spectral lens. The vision quickly fades, but Monica’s glowing eyes return after she’s attacked by Scarlet Witch. In the comics, Monica develops energy-based superpowers tied to a broad energy spectrum. That seems in line with what’s been hinted at so far, and it should be interesting to see how her abilities develop leading up to Captain Marvel 2.

Why Was SWORD Trying To Rebuild Vision?

Monica and Jimmy Woo receive the results of Darcy’s hacking in WandaVision episode 7, which reveal the nature of SWORD’s mysterious “Project Cataract.” In essence, the agency was attempting to reconstruct and reactivate Vision, which is why Director Hayward has been so focused on Vision during the Westview phenomenon. Obviously, Vision is a valuable asset and a capable “sentient weapon,” but the more specific reasons for Project Cataract are unclear. Hayward has expressed a fierce dislike for superpowered individuals, which could suggest a darker ulterior motive. Some theories hold that SWORD are the villains of WandaVision, and their intentions with Vision could reveal the truth.

Who Is Evan Peters’s Quicksilver Actually?

WandaVision Episode 7 Post Credits Scene Monica Quicksilver

Pietro Maximoff shows up again in WandaVision episode 7's post-credits scene. It seems that he has been a puppet of Agatha Harkness all along, but that doesn’t explain who (or what) he is or how he arrived in Westview. The references to nexus plotlines in episode 7 reopen the theory that WandaVision’s is actually the Fox X-Men version of the character, who’s been pulled into the MCU via some inter-reality force. It’s also possible that Agatha resurrected Pietro in a way that brought him back “wrong,” or that she conjured an empty puppet to simply play the part.

How Is Vision Alive In WandaVision?

Vision in WandaVision

WandaVision episode 7’s Agatha Harkness reveal adds more questions to the nature of Vision’s revival in Westview, and why he can’t leave. Clearly there’s some sort of power within the Hex that’s keeping him alive, but it’s uncertain whether that power is coming from Wanda, Agatha, or the Westview Nexus (if that even exists). Regardless, Vision’s fate looks grim if the Hex eventually goes down, which it almost surely must by the end of WandaVision.

Why Does Agatha Harkness Reveal Her Identity To Wanda?

Kathryn Hahn as Agnes Agatha Harkness Agatha All Along WandaVision

One more question about the Agatha Harkness reveal in WandaVision episode 7 is why the witch suddenly decides to tell Wanda her true identity. There are a few possibilities. If Agatha has been using Wanda to channel or absorb some sort of magical energy, she could have reached maximum capacity and therefore have no more use for Scarlet Witch's powers. Alternatively, Monica’s intrusion and Wanda’s loss of control (evidenced by objects slipping between time periods) could have pushed Agatha to desperate measures if her goal hasn’t been reached yet. Whatever the explanation, WandaVision fans have a lot to look forward to in the show’s last two episodes.
