A recently revealed piece of WandaVision concept art has shown an alternate look for Wanda Maximoff's Halloween costume. The Halloween costumes were first shown in early promotional material before debuting in episode 6 of the Disney+ series. The costumes pay homage to the classic costumes for Wanda, Vision, and "Pietro," as well as Tommy and Billy's first hero costumes.

Episode 6 of WandaVision, "All-New Halloween Spectacular!," brought Westview into the 1990s, taking inspiration from sitcoms such as Malcolm In The Middle for an episode framed through the perspective of a Halloween special. As such, Wanda, Vision, and their family don Halloween costumes alongside the rest of Westview's residents. The addition of the classic costumes was partly fan service for those wanting to see their original comic costumes, but it was also cleverly worked into the episode's story. That being said, Wanda almost had a different look compared to the show's final design.

During a recent stream on his YouTube channel, Andy Park (via The Direct) shared various pieces of concept art that he worked on for the series. This stream included a piece featuring Wanda, Vision, Billy, Tommy, and "Pietro" trick-or-treating during the Halloween episode. Among differences compared to the final episode, such as presumably Sparky the dog still being alive, Wanda has a slightly different costume compared to her final look in the episode. Wanda's alternative outfit retains her iconic headdress and gloves, albeit slightly altered. Instead, she wears a black necklace, pink top, red corset, and red skirt along with leather boots rather than her more classic-inspired outfit. Check out the artwork below.

Park stated that producers did not want Wanda in her classic look, and they'd rather she have a more fortune teller-inspired costume, much like in the above image. However, after Elizabeth Olsen fought for the comic accurate outfit and insisting Wanda have it alongside Bettany's outfit, the producers relented and went with the final outfit seen in the episode. Olsen was excited to don a more comic-accurate look following being told during Avengers: Age of Ultron's production that Wanda would not have a look inspired by her comic appearance.

While the design featured in the artwork fits better with Wanda's line about dressing as a "Sokovian fortune teller" and more recent costumes in the comics share similar details such as the necklace, it is best that the producers went with the final design. The costume featured in the episode not only serves as a nod to the classic comics, but better matches the aesthetics of the rest of the family's costumes. The final design also feels closer to the final hero costume we see in WandaVision's final episode. Wanda's Scarlet Witch costume has a similar cape and headdress to the Halloween outfit, resulting in a subtle piece of foreshadowing.
