Is WandaVision's nosy neighbor Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) really Marvel's famous witch Agatha Harkness? When Marvel Studios announced Hahn's casting as an unnamed nosy neighbor in WandaVision, fans immediately began speculating what character from Marvel Comics she could secretly be. Promotional materials for the Disney+ show eventually revealed her character's name is Agnes. So far, she is a brand new character created for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there is a growing sense Agnes is Agatha Harkness in disguise.

Agatha Harkness is a powerful witch from Marvel Comics. She was involved in the Salem Witch Trials and later became the nanny for Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. Agatha was eventually burned at the stake by her descendants and helped Scarlet Witch defeat them beyond the grave. Once she inexplicably returned from the dead, Agatha warned Scarlet Witch that her children were created from fragments of Mephisto. She then wiped Wanda Maximoff's memory of them ever existing once Mephisto reabsorbed the twins. Scarlet Witch later killed Agatha for the part she played in her past, but Agnes eventually became a mentor for Wanda in the afterlife.

WandaVision just introduced Scarlet Witch's twins and there are some possible teases of Mephisto, but there are other reasons to suspect Agnes is Agatha Harkness beyond Agatha's prominent role in Wanda's comic history. Agnes' name became one of the first clues that she could be Agatha Harkness. Many have pointed out that Agnes could be an abbreviated version of her name, with Agnes having the same first two letters as Agatha and ending similar to Harkness. But, WandaVision has since presented another intriguing possibility. Monica Rambeau's time in Westview saw her become known as Geraldine. With the show now establishing that people in Westview could have different names, Agnes' real name being Agatha Harkness is less far-fetched.

Another clue to Agnes being Agatha Harkness has appeared in WandaVision thanks to her jewelry/accessories. Even though the show has utilized different TV sitcoms as inspiration for the aesthetic of each episode, Agnes continues to sport a specific design. It appears the pendant she wears as a brooch and later as a necklace is a clue to Agatha as well. It somewhat resembles the collar that Agatha routinely wears in the comics. While the pendant also appears to tease Grim Reaper, Agnes' clothing in future episodes could be another clue. The WandaVision marketing showed her in a witch costume for the Halloween-themed episode, which could be a quite obvious nod to Agnes' true identity.

If Agnes does turn out to be Agatha Harkness (and it does appear likely), it still is not clear what role she plays in the grand scheme of WandaVision. The show has barely explored her character, but she's made head-turning comments about the devil and her husband Ralph. While it was a popular theory that Agnes was behind WandaVision's events, her presence in episode 3 indicated otherwise. She might know a bit more about the state of reality than Vision, but she also seemed scared for the truth to come out. Agnes could be Agatha Harkness and have ties to the show's main villain, but there is still a lot about her for WandaVision to reveal even if she isn't.
