The international trailer for Oliver Stone's Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps has appeared online and unlike the slick, hard-rock preview we got in the Wall Street 2 teaser trailer, this new trailer has more of a laid back approach, letting us in on what the actual story of the film is all about.
Michael Douglas is back as Wall Street shark Gordon Gekko, now fresh out of prison (where he landed himself at the end of the first film) only to discover a world where his brand of greed has become the norm. Shia LaBeouf plays a young wannabe Wall Street player, who sees a path to some big money under Gekko's wing.
Did I mention that LaBeouf's character is also engaged to Gekko's estranged daughter (the lovely Carey Mulligan)?
Watch sparks (and money) fly in this international trailer for Wall Street 2:
Douglas is easily the best thing about this film and despite the years tacked on to his age since first playing Gekko back in the eighties, he's still just as much the shark as he ever was. I also like the supporting roles played by Josh Brolin and Frank Langella, as two successful Wall Street gents who are trying to guide (or misguide?) LaBeouf's character.
I think a lot of people were thinking cheese-fest when Wall Street 2 was announced (the subtitle Money Never Sleeps didn't help things) but I think these trailers are beginning to work their charms on folks. I definitely will be seeing this film, if only to watch Douglas and LaBeouf trade swords onscreen.
Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps hits theaters on April 23, 2010
