The Walking Dead: World Beyond star Nico Tortorella gave a coy, telling remark about the possible appearance of Rick Grimes in season 2 of the spinoff series. The series, which began airing in 2020, is set ten years after the inception of the Walking Dead zombie apocalypse and depicts the adventures of the first group of young people to grow up in a post-walker world. The show stars Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella, Joe Holt, Jelani Alladin, Natalie Gold, and Ted Sutherland. Season 2 of World Beyond premieres tomorrow, October 3.

This season, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will continue the story of core teen characters Iris, Hope, Elton, and Silas. As their journey continues, they will discover the devastating fate of the Campus Colony and face off against the mysterious Civic Republic Military, a group that is seeking a cure for the zombie virus at any cost. Season 2 will also feature the return of Pollyanna McIntosh's The Walking Dead character Jadis, who was last seen rescuing Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes in season 9 after he was left for dead.

Given the fact that Jadis is returing and she was last seen with Rick, fans have been speculating that the beloved character may return in season 2 of The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Nico Tortorella, who plays Campus Colony of Omaha's head of security Felix Carlucci, was asked if they were going to meet Rick Grimes. Their response was calculated and careful, but with a coy wink, implying that - while they can't say anything just yet - it's not necessarily a "no." Read the full quote here:

"Rick Grimes is a fictional character, so I don't think anyone's actually met him in real life. To be continued, to be continued."

Especially considering how close the premiere of the season is, it's only natural that Tortorella is keeping a tight lid on everything. There is still quite a bit of time between Rick's final appearance on The Walking Dead and where World Beyond is currently, so anything could have happened to Jadis and Rick in the meantime. The presence of one doesn't necessarily indicate the presence of the other.

However, Andrew Lincoln hasn't been on the show since 2018. It's not outside the realm of possibility that he is missing his old character and wants to stop by The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2. Maybe he's considering it a warmup for his reprisal of the character in the upcoming Rick Grimes movies, which are still in pre-production. This will be World Beyond's farewell season, so it's entirely possible that they're pulling out all the stops with their cameos.
