The Walking Dead season 8 is looking to hire contortionists to play background roles. The Walking Dead's characters - both alive and undead - have found themselves in situations that required being put in awkward physical positions many times, but it looks like actor flexibility might soon be pushed to new heights, judging by a casting notice that has surfaced online today.

It's unclear what exactly these bendable thespians would be asked to do on The Walking Dead, but since the casting call is specifically looking for background extras, one presumes that the contortionists are probably being sought to play zombies. That isn't for sure though, so it could also be true that maybe actors are being hired to play background members of the Saviors or Rick's forces that will end up dying in odd ways during the coming "All-Out War" arc.

The notice - posted on Backstage - expires on September 5, with a note about production taking place this month, so it appears that The Walking Dead's casting department is looking to book these actors that "must be able to bend their arms and shoulders in various unique angles" as soon as possible. The background roles are listed as being open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 50, regardless of gender or ethnicity. So basically, just about anyone who wants to try out for the gig can do so, as long as they're not yet senior citizens, and live in or can travel to Atlanta.

Most fans would likely agree that the more intriguing option here is for the contortionists to be playing zombies, as that - coupled with the gory special effects provided by Greg Nicotero and company - would theoretically allow for all kinds of horrifically twisted variations on the standard walker. It might also allow for some fantastic kills, as these specially talented performers are rendered dead and all messed up by Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and the gang.

An additional amusing scenario could involve Negan's reaction to twisted up zombies. Given how cruel and sadistic he can be, Negan would probably just sit and laugh at them, maybe poke at them with Lucille for a while. He probably wouldn't even kill them either, he'd probably just put them on grotesque display in the obstacle course that those lowest on the Savior totem pole are forced to participate in to earn points.
