A behind the scenes video from The Walking Dead season 11 shows Norman Reedus' last ride on set as Daryl Dixon. Since its television debut on Halloween all the way back in 2010, The Walking Dead has become one of the most popular shows on television and a flagship program for AMC. Based on the Robert Kirkman comic series of the same name, the show follows a group of survivors as they attempt to live in a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies and others willing to do whatever it takes to survive. The show's cult-like following has allowed it to amass 11 seasons as well as multiple Walking Dead spin-off shows including Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: The World Beyond.
The Walking Dead has starred the likes of Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, and Jeffery Dean Morgan as some of the famous characters from the comic series (Rick, Michonne, and Negan respectively). However, the show has also managed to create some original characters for the series and among them is one of the show's most beloved characters, Daryl Dixon. The fan-favorite character was created specifically for Norman Reedus to portray and he has become one of only two original survivors from The Walking Dead season 1 to make it to the show's finale.
The Walking Dead’s current director of photography, Duane Manwiller, posted a short video to Instagram showing Daryl riding his signature motorcycle one last time. In the post, Manwiller states that the filming for The Walking Dead has wrapped and that this was among the final moments shot for the television series. He goes on to acknowledge that this is the final time Daryl will ride his motorcycle for the series and thanks Norman Reedus for a “wild ride” over the last twelve years. With The Walking Dead coming to a close, many are wondering what’s next for some of their favorite characters, including Daryl Dixon. Multiple spin-off series have been confirmed for some of the main characters in the show's final season. A spin-off for Daryl and Carol is in the works and is set to continue their stories after the events of the show. While no details about the untitled show have been released yet, it is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023. Additionally, Maggie and Negan will have a limited series called Isle of the Dead where they explore a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, indicating both are also likely to survive the show's final season.
The end of The Walking Dead is a major event in television history. Although it will have multiple spin-offs still on the air, it seemed to many fans that The Walking Dead could continue on for many more years. The finale of the second part of the show’s three part farewell season is set to air on Sunday, April 10. Part three is scheduled to return after season 7 of Fear The Walking Dead concludes, meaning fans are likely to see Daryl and the rest of the character’s from The Walking Dead’s “last ride” later this year.
