The Walking Dead season 11 premiere will be available for AMC+ subscribers one week early. Based on the comic book series by the same name, The Walking Dead exploded onto the scene with its television adaptation in 2010. In its earlier seasons, it broke records for attracting more people in the 18-49-year-old range than any other show on television. However, ratings declined over the course of the later seasons.

After spawning a total of 11 seasons, spin-offs, webisodes, games, and more, the series has certainly left its mark on media. The series will be ending with the upcoming season, which was supposed to premiere in October 2020. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, production had to be pushed back, resulting in a later premiere date. It will now air on August 24 on AMC, consisting of 24 episodes total over the course of of three eight-episode blocks. The series will come to an end in 2022.

Comic Book announced that AMC+ subscribers will be able to watch the premiere one week early, on August 15. The premiere is broken into two parts, titled "Acheron: Part I" and "Acheron: Part II." Season 11 will follow the survivors who are left, including Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). After a storm results in them having to go into a subway tunnel, they must push forward to save Alexandria.

AMC+ is a bundle that is available through Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Comcast Xfinity, DirecTV, Dish, Roku, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. In addition to getting special access to AMC, it also includes Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited. Since the amount of streaming services and various bundles is only getting larger, some folks may have to prioritize which services they are willing to stay subscribed to. However, fans of The Walking Dead may particularly find value in having AMC+ in order to get started on the final season a week early.

Season 11 will explore material from #175-193 of the comic from which it's based. While the show's ratings have decreased over the years, the final season may see a bit of a bump from those who are curious to see how the main series ends. However, since there are a few spin-offs, this isn't truly the end of The Walking Dead universe. The series is also set to see a return on the big screen with a feature film that follows Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) after his final season on the television show. The film is directed by Greg Nicotero and written by Scott M. Gimple, both of whom have worked on the show. Stay tuned for more details on the franchise with season 11 quickly approaching.
