The Walking Dead season 11 part 3 trailer previews the long-running zombie show's final stretch. The end is almost here for the beloved post-apocalyptic TV drama sprung from the pages of Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's comic book series. The final run of eight episodes is about to arrive as AMC unleashes the end-game for their signature horror drama.

It remains to be seen how things end up for beloved long-time Walking Dead characters like Daryl, Maggie, Carol and others - and for divisive characters like Negan. Though fans have of course already gotten some big hints with the announcement that Daryl, Maggie and Negan will all live on in spinoffs. When the last bloc of eight TWD episodes aired, things were left in a very tense situation as Lance Hornsby executed his plans to take over the other communities, setting up a final battle against the crazed Commonwealth villain.

With the original The Walking Dead set to lurch off into the sunset, cast and creators of the show are currently making their last trip together to San Diego Comic-Con, where a trailer was just dropped for The Walking Dead season 11 part 3. The new clip titled "Finish the Fight" features everything fans might have expected, including an appeal to pure nostalgia. But it also features a surprise zombie twist in its final moments. See the clip in the space below:

The Walking Dead has notably remained very consistent over the years in its depiction of the walkers as being mindless creatures who are basically harmless individually but become dangerous when they're together in herds. Now however it seems TWD is set to break with its own zombie tradition by switching up how the walkers function, introducing faster, smarter monsters to the mix (a change that was actually teased in The Walking Dead: World Beyond but is now being worked into the main show). Why the decision would be made to introduce such a seemingly huge change-up at such a late date in the show's run is anyone's guess. But the move does set things up in an interesting way for upcoming TWD spinoff shows like the Maggie-and-Negan-led Isle of the Dead and the as-yet-untitled Daryl (but not Carol) show set in Europe.

Outside of the trailer's big zombie switch-up, there isn't much too surprising featured in the clip. It's no shock to see the trailer leaning on nostalgic glimpses of departed characters like Rick and Michonne, given that it is previewing the show's last run of episodes. It's also no surprise to see it be pretty vague about what's going on with Hornsby and the Commonwealth, beyond the fact that he's basically become TWD's version of the Batman villain Two-Face. Many questions will be answered, and a lot of bodies will be dropped, when The Walking Dead season 11 part 3 premieres on October 2, 2022.
