Jeffrey Dean Morgan has revealed a look at his son as a zombie ahead of his appearance in The Walking Dead season 11. The long-running AMC series is gearing up for its final run of episodes, which are set to begin airing August 22. The Walking Dead season 11 will feature 24 episodes, allowing viewers a more protracted goodbye to the massively popular show. Audiences also have a bit of time to come to terms with The Walking Dead ending, as the season 10 finale aired in early April.
The team behind the show has been hard at work on the new season since the start of the year, when Morgan teased the beginning of filming. Interestingly, the actor has also said The Walking Dead season 11 originally wasn't supposed to be the show's last, citing "a huge pivot." Luckily, there are several other related projects for viewers to look forward to after the series finale. There are new seasons of both Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond on the way. There are also two other spinoffs in the works, one featuring Carol and Daryl and another called Tales of the Walking Dead. Additionally, Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes will return for a series of movies, while Morgan has hinted AMC is contemplating a spinoff focused on his character Negan.
Though The Walking Dead's upcoming projects are exciting, there's still season 11 to enjoy. In an Instagram post, Morgan teased the new season with a first look at his son Gus in full zombie makeup. Check out Morgan's photo below:
When hinting at the start of production on The Walking Dead season 11, Morgan shared an image of a script binder his son made him for Christmas celebrating the show's final season. Based on that, it's clear Morgan's son is a fan of his work on the series. Gus also won't be the first family member to appear on The Walking Dead: actor Hilarie Burton, also Morgan's real-life wife, guest-starred in season 10 as Negan's late partner Lucille. Her episode, "Here's Negan," was also the season finale and proved pivotal for the show.
As of now, it's unclear how big of a role Morgan and Burton's son will have in The Walking Dead season 11. Even if it winds up being a relatively minor part, it's clear it means a lot to Morgan to have his family involved in the series. If the Negan spinoff doesn't wind up happening, it's a great way for the actor to say goodbye to The Walking Dead franchise.
