Photos from The Walking Dead's highly anticipated return have been posted. It has been four months since viewers saw the characters in a hospital as the Whisperers arrive. Fans have been waiting to see how the conflict with Beta will go, and soon that wait will be over. Although the upcoming episode was originally meant to be the season 10 finale, there will be a six-episode extension in early 2021.
Many things have transpired on The Walking Dead over the last two seasons. After the All Out War, there was some peace. Unsurprisingly, it wouldn't last, as a dangerous group called the Whisperers arrived. Their leader, Alpha, proved to be one of the most dangerous antagonists. Her end came when Negan infiltrated the group and caught her off guard, slicing her throat. This led to Beta taking charge, where he has mounted a full assault on the Alexandrians. Besides the conflict, there have been different relationship dynamics. Probably the biggest is the friction between Daryl and Carol, something that will continue to be a factor. Of course, they are going to have to survive Beta's onslaught in the upcoming episode to deal with it.
AMC has shared some photos from the delayed Walking Dead season 10 finale. The images highlight the big things currently taking place, such as Beta's oncoming onslaught, and Eugene's group on their journey. Check out the photos below:
Perhaps the most interesting image is with Negan and Daryl. The two characters had a very interesting scene in "Look at the Flowers." There, Negan had the opportunity to turn on Daryl, but chose to help instead. This puts the characters in a notable position in the upcoming episode. Daryl still doesn't like Negan, but the two will be forced to work together to help save everyone from Beta's attack. Seeing them literally team up to take down Beta would be a crowd-cheering moment, but fans will have to wait and see how things play out.
As for the other images, another interesting one is with Eugene's group. It seems the episode will split focus between the battle against the Whisperers, and Eugene going to meet up with Stephanie. Assuming AMC's The Walking Dead is sticking with the comics here, Stephanie's group is the Commonwealth and they are far more established than the Alexandrians ever were. Their meeting with her is likely what will kick off the story being explored in the additional season 10 episodes. But first, The Whisperer War needs to be finished. Considering what a dire situation the survivors find themselves in with the Whisperers on their doorstep, there is help on the way as Maggie makes her return in this episode. She's interestingly not featured in any of these photos, however, meaning it may not be until the episodes final minutes that she arrives.
"A Certain Doom", the episode that was going to be The Walking Dead's season 10 finale, looks to be jam-packed with content and doesn't look like it will disappoint. Norman Reedus has even compared the big battle to Game of Thrones, giving fans a tease of just how massive the conflict will be.
The Walking Dead season 10 returns Sunday October 4 on AMC.
