A bloody new gallery of images from The Walking Dead season 10 finale teases the much anticipated climactic showdown with The Whisperers. The long-delayed episode, which was affected by the coronavirus pandemic, will finally reach TV screens on October 4. The sneak peek of the finale, released all the way back in April teased a massive all-out war with The Whisperers, as well as the return of at least one familiar face in the form of Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who left the show in season 9.
The finale, which is a bit of a misnomer now given that season 10 added six new episodes during the pandemic, sees the survivors holed up in a hospital, preparing for battle. The Whisperers, now led by Beta (Ryan Hurst) following the death of Alpha (Samantha Morton) thanks to Carol and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) teaming up, are advancing with their army of Walkers. The episode's title "A Certain Doom" promises that one of the groups is going to be decimated, though it's unclear at this point if that refers to The Whisperers or the survivors. The biggest likelihood is that the survivors are forced to split up at the end of the episode, in order to keep things interesting for the final six episodes, and season 11, which will end The Walking Dead.
Now, Coming Soon has released a massive gallery of photos from the season finale, and it looks like things are about to get very bloody. The images tease a massive battle between the survivors and The Whisperers, as well as some tender moments between the characters. It also shows the survivors prepping for the battle, arming themselves and splitting up into separate forces. You can see a selection from the gallery below:
The finale is sure to feature the deaths of some major characters, especially now that the show has revealed it is winding down. With a number of storylines still open, the showrunners will surely start resolving them soon, and the original finale of season 10 is a great time to do that. There is speculation that Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), the two fan favorite characters who are getting their own spin-off show after the main show ends, will end up getting separated in the finale, with season 11 focusing on them finding their way back to each other.
Whatever actually happens in the episode, the images promise it will be explosive and action-filled, and hopefully will live up to some of the more iconic episodes from the earlier seasons, before the show unfortunately experienced a dip in quality. It also promises to set up The Walking Dead season 11, which will end the iconic series after over a decade on air.
