AMC's The Walking Dead producer Greg Nicotero teases a showdown between Carol and Whisperer leader Alpha. Premiering next Sunday, The Walking Dead is about to enter season 10.

AMC has been building anticipation for The Walking Dead season 10. Just recently the channel released four new Walking Dead character posters highlighting the major players. There have been teasers highlighting the oncoming conflict between the Whisperers and the united communities. Although the show has seen declining ratings in recent years, it remains one of the most well-known dramas on television. Last season was one of the most acclaimed, and that looks to continue into season 10 with preparation for war. The Walking Dead Comic-Con trailer teased major developments, such as Michonne wielding Negan's bat. The main characters are all going to do something, and based on the latest tease, Alpha may find herself on the receiving end of Carol's fury.

During the Saturn Awards red carpet (via TVLine), The Walking Dead producer Greg Nicotero teased Carol getting into a conflict with Alpha. "Knowing Carol’s history, I think [a smackdown is] pretty likely," the producer said. "She really doesn’t take things lying down." This is referring to the events of the previous season. Alpha infiltrated the fair and beheaded a number of characters, including Carol's adopted son Henry. This led to Carol leaving Ezekiel, and the idea of a happy marriage.

With the previous event in mind, it would make sense for the writers to have Carol come into battle with Alpha directly, thus delivering payoff. Carol has gone through a great deal of character development throughout the show's run, from being abused, to destroying a community owned by cannibals. If she does get to lay the smackdown on Alpha as Nicotero teases, fans of her are likely in for a treat.

Of course, it's not just Carol who has a vendetta against Alpha. The Whisperer leader had killed key characters aside from Henry, including Enid and Tara. The infamous heads on pikes was a haunting image in both the comic and show. The Whisperers were also responsible for the death of Paul "Jesus" Rovia, a character who had been around since season 6. In a short amount of time, the hostile group had positioned themselves as one of the show's most dangerous threats. However, with the communities united once again, and Negan being given a role, the stage is set for the war against the Whisperers.
