Skydance Interactive and Skybound Interactive currently have The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution in the works; the newest chapter of content boasts a standalone adventure that both fans and newcomers alike will want to sink their teeth into. Released in 2020, The Walking Dead-branded VR game invited PlayStation VR, PC VR, and Oculus users to explore a first-person survival horror game unlike anything else in the virtual reality space.

As evidenced by the title, Saints & Sinners takes place in The Walking Dead universe, though it's not set in Georgia like the popular AMC television series or Telltale Games' award-winning adventure games. Saints & Sinners instead drops players in the ruins of New Orleans, where warring factions and other conflicts prove just as devastating to human survival as the shambling dead. The game reviewed well upon release and remains a showpiece in terms of compelling virtual reality experiences. Given its incredible success, it's no wonder Saints & Sinners continues receiving post-launch updates. And now yet another major content release is in production.

In celebration of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners' two-year anniversary, Skydance Interactive and Skybound Interactive have unveiled Chapter 2: Retribution, a standalone experience that continues the base game's storyline. Reassuming the Tourist role, players who jump into Chapter 2 can expect to once more fight for their survival in New Orleans, where new characters and fresh threats will undoubtedly crop up. New choices will take center stage as well, forcing Saints & Sinners users to make "gut-wrenching" decisions that ultimately determine the Tourist's fate. Apart from the two pieces of non-gory and gory key art below, much about the upcoming content remains under wraps, though more details should go live later this year.

In a press release, Skydance and Skybound further made a note of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners' incredible success. Since the VR game's 2020 launch, it's earned a remarkable $60 million in revenue across all platforms. The eventual advent of new content suggests the Saints & Sinners earnings will climb further still.

Two other major updates have gone live in the couple of years since the title's original release. The Aftershocks Update added an expansion of the Tourist's story, new challenges, and two extra post-campaign missions. Meanwhile, the Meatgrinder Update ushers in a special wave-based mode, The Trial, and another difficulty option for the main story.
