The Walking Dead season 11 star Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, has reportedly been injured while filming. The second half of AMC’s zombie drama's finale season 11 premiered its first episodes in February, with the final episodes expected to premiere sometime later in the year. Season 11 loosely adapts the storyline from issues #175-193 of The Walking Dead comic, introducing the most advanced, post-apocalyptic society thus far: the Commonwealth.

Daryl has been a staple of the post-apocalyptic series since The Walking Dead season 1. Following Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) departure in season 9, Reedus’ Daryl took over as one of Alexandria and the other survivors' de facto leaders alongside Maggie Greene/Rhee (Lauren Cohan). In season 11, Maggie has refused to become a part of the Commonwealth while Daryl accepted their offer and joined their military. Now part of their community, Daryl and the other survivors are beginning to realize that the seemingly idyllic Commonwealth has more than a few issues.

Fandemic Tour on Instagram recently revealed that Reedus was involved in an "accident" that occurred during "filming." As a result, Reedus had to postpone a scheduled appearance at the upcoming convention. No other details were revealed, leading to the assumption Reedus was injured while working on season 11 of The Walking Dead. However, this has yet to be officially confirmed. The post stopped short of confirming any further details about the accident, but Fandemic Tour said it was sending "thoughts and positive energy" to Reedus, who the company said felt "terrible" about missing his appearance. The Walking Dead season 11 is said to wrap filming on its final episode later this month, though Reedus' accident may change this schedule. The Walking Dead universe will also continue after the flagship series airs its final season. On top of that ongoing spinoffs Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, upcoming shows like Tales of the Walking DeadIsle of the Dead following Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie in New York, and an untitled spinoff seeing Daryl, Carol (Melissa McBride) and other established characters hit the road, are also in the works. Additionally, the franchise will also see a trilogy of films featuring Rick Grimes. While those films have yet to enter production, Lincoln was spotted with Reedus in Atlanta, Georgia last month.

Given that Reedus’ role in the universe will continue, the actor will presumably appear in The Walking Dead season 11’s final episode. Still, it’s possible Daryl and Carol depart the flagship series for their spin-off before the finale, leaving episode 24 to other characters like Maggie, Negan, Aaron, Ezekiel, Eugene, Rosita, Gabriel, Judith, or maybe even Rick and Michonne. Irrespective of characters, plot, and whether the reported accident affects production, hordes of The Walking Dead fans wish Reedus and company well.
