A new picture of The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) and Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) has fans calling for a spinoff reunion. The Walking Dead first premiered in October 2010 and ran for eleven seasons before the finale episode aired in November 2022. Since the series finale, The Walking Dead franchise has announced three new spinoff series, each focusing on much-loved characters from the zombie horror series, including Maggie and Negan, Rick and Michonne, and Daryl Dixon.

Reedus posted an image on Instagram with him and Lincoln reuniting in New Jersey while the latter filmed his respective The Walking Dead spinoff series. Check out the image below:

While Reedus and Lincoln have stayed close friends since Lincoln's season 9 departure, the reunion photo raised speculation on whether or not Daryl and Rick will also reunite in The Walking Dead franchise.

Will Daryl and Rick Reunite In Their Upcoming TWD Spinoffs?

Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) in The Walking Dead

While the first of the upcoming The Walking Dead spinoffs, Dead City, is set to air on June 18, both Reedus' spinoff Daryl Dixon and Lincoln's untitled spinoff with Danai Gurira (Michonne) are currently in production. Daryl Dixon will follow the titular archer's journey through post-apocalyptic France and is filming on location in Paris, with the series scheduled to be released in late 2023. Meanwhile, Rick and Michonne's spinoff began filming in New Jersey in February, with an expected 2023 release. Though the two series seem set on entirely different continents, Reedus' reunion photo has ignited speculation.

Lincoln's departure as Rick Grimes transpired in The Walking Dead season 9 when Rick seemingly sacrificed himself to save his community. While his people believe him dead, Rick was saved by Jadis and taken off in a helicopter to the Civil Republic Military. For several episodes afterward, Daryl continued to search for Rick's body, insistent that he wasn't truly dead. Rick doesn't appear again until The Walking Dead series finale, which teases his upcoming spinoff. With Lincoln firmly back in The Walking Dead franchise, viewers have been eager to see a reunion between Rick and Daryl, who consider themselves brothers.

Though it's currently unclear how much overlap, if any, will happen between The Walking Dead spinoff series, Reedus reuniting with Lincoln could tease a long-awaited Daryl and Rick reunion as well. However, the photo could also be Reedus visiting Lincoln as Lincoln films the Rick and Michonne-centered series. With the franchise expanding exponentially in the next several months, viewers will hopefully have all their burning questions answered when The Walking Dead's spinoff series air in the coming year.
