After selling out at the distributor level, The Walking Dead Deluxe #1-6 will be reprinted with new main cover art by David Finch and Dave McCaig. In addition to these covers, there will also be raw art variants of Finch's illustrations. This means there will be two versions of the cover offered for each of the first six issues of this colorized reprint of The Walking Dead.

It was originally announced back in July 2020 that Robert Kirkman's famous black-and-white Walking Dead comic book series would rise from the dead once again on a twice-monthly basis starting in the fitting Halloween season of October 2020. The new version of the series is not just colorized by Dave McCaig, but it also has brand-new “Cutting Room Floor” content, which includes commentary and pin-ups from Kirkman and others exploring the hidden history of the comic.

  • The Walking Dead Deluxe #1 Second Printing Covers - Finch - (Raw versions are 1:25 variants)
  • From the mind of creator/writer Robert Kirkman with illustration by Tony Moore and now colors by Dave McCaig, The Walking Dead took the world by storm in no small part thanks to the ultra-popular AMC television show. The series ran for 193 issues over the course of seventeen years. It's one of Image Comics' longest-running series. The comic spawned numerous tie-in media including multiple video games.

All this content seems to indicate The Walking Dead won't be dying out anytime soon, regardless of how much zombie media has been consumed. Given the new cover art, it's likely this second print run of The Walking Dead Deluxe #1-6 will sell out just like its first print run. The new version is a good way to hook new readers who may be averse to the previously black-and-white art as well as give longtime collectors new content to peruse. Plus, as more spin-off television shows come out that take place within The Walking Dead world, the value of the comics and their longevity will continue to increase. So, be on the lookout for these new cover art offerings in your local comic shop this February 24, 2020.
