AMC has revealed a look at one of Michonne's final outings on The Walking Dead. Returning in February, The Walking Dead's 10th season is coming back with big things. Not only is the Whisperer War likely to fully commence, but Danai Gurira is hanging up her Katana as Michonne.
The Walking Dead has been on the air for nine years. Many characters have been well-received, but few have been acclaimed as Michonne. Debuting way back in season 2 and appearing prominently in the Governor storyline, Michonne has remained a fierce, but caring character. In season 6, she became romantically involved with Rick Grimes. After Rick seemingly died (not to worry; he's returning in a film), Michonne assumed the leadership role in Alexandria. In the latest season, things have escalated between the Whisperers and the communities. The last episode had Michonne traveling to an island naval base with a character named Virgil. If what he's saying is accurate, weapons are stored there. Now, fans can get a peek into how Michonne is faring overseas.
AMC has shared an image from The Walking Dead's midseason premiere (via TVLine), showing Michonne and Virgil. Check it out below.
TVLine notes the context of the image is the characters cautiously getting to the naval base. It's not known how many episodes will feature this plot point, or how many episodes Michonne will appear in for the remainder of the season. The original season 10 trailer showed her wielding Lucille. There are still big things coming for the character. How her story concludes remains to be seen. Showrunner Angela Kang said sometime ago Michonne's departure will come with notable reveals, so fans will want to stay tuned.
Besides Michonne's fetch quest, there are a few major things happening in The Walking Dead. One of the biggest developments is Negan joining the Whisperers, even kneeling to Alpha. If the show follows the comic book, fans are in for a treat here. Meanwhile, thanks to Carol's rashness, Daryl and some other characters have fallen into Alpha's trap. A notable development was Dante's outing as a spy. In a rather shocking scene, Gabriel brutally murdered him. It will certainty be interesting seeing if there is any kind of fallout with that. Many fans of The Walking Dead agree the material has been the strongest in years. Season 10 looks to conclude in a satisfying way.
