Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who stars as Negan in The Walking Dead, has responded to some fan theories about his upcoming spinoff show, The Walking Dead: Dead City. Though The Walking Dead came to an end with season 11 in November, it was announced earlier this year that the show would continue to live on in the form of three spinoff shows: Daryl Dixon, Rick and Michonne, and Dead City. While there is no set release date yet, Dead City is expected to premiere in April 2023.In a series of posts to Twitter, Morgan responds to fan theories about Dead City, including what the future may hold for certain characters. One Twitter user theorized that something might happen to Negan's wife Annie, causing Negan to revert back to his old, cruel ways. Morgan responded to the post by saying, "By golly... Not a crap theory! I like it." Another wondered if Negan and Maggie might go to New York to find Annie and Hershel after the two are captured, to which Morgan replied, "Solid." Morgan also teased Annie's future in Dead City by saying, "guess we'll find out," when asked what happened to Annie at the end of The Walking Dead. Will Annie and Hershel Appear in Dead City?

Maggie Rhee and her son Hershel from The Walking Dead.

While the plot of Dead City has yet to be disclosed, there have been hints as to where the spinoff will go. The Walking Dead's series finale saw Maggie wanting to explore more of the world – the same way she did during her brief season 9 departure – meaning that Maggie and Negan could end up in New York to explore more of post-apocalyptic America. The finale also saw Judith telling Daryl that Rick is alive, and Daryl rode off on his own to try and find Rick and Michonne. One popular theory suggested that the New York setting for Dead City could also lead Maggie and Negan to Rick, as the two may need to pass through Philadelphia, where the CRM seems to be located.

Though the location for Dead City is important, there is also a question of who will appear in the spinoff. In the Walking Dead finale, neither Hershel nor Annie's fates were revealed. Some fan theories suggest that Annie and her unborn child met a tragic fate, leaving Negan angry and alone. Others theorize that Negan is traveling to New York City to save Annie from an unknown illness – the same way Negan left his first wife Lucille alone in search of medication.

Meanwhile, there are many theories about Hershel's fate as there are about Annie's. Maggie is dedicated and protective of her son, and it seems unlikely for Maggie to have left Hershel behind to head to New York City. However, Hershel toting along with Negan and Maggie may become a problem, as tensions between the Rhees and Negan continue to rise. Though Morgan didn't give any definitive answers, his responses to theories may indicate that Dead City fans could be on the right track.
