AMC's The Walking Dead has seemingly debunked one of its biggest rumors as actress Pollyanna McIntosh teases she will not become Alpha.

It's been confirmed that the current 'All Out War' saga of the comic will not run past season 8, meaning that one way or another, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan will no longer be the Big Bad of the series. Current showrunner Scott Gimple has already promised that the villainous Whisperers will come to the show at some point, meaning that their leader Alpha will surely be in tow. The big question still remains though, have we already met her?

One popular theory - that seems to be more popular than the character herself - is that Junkyard Jadis could take on the mantle of Alpha. As episode 10 of the current series, 'The Lost and the Plunderers,' honed in on Jadis, it put her on a possible path to becoming the fan-favorite villain. However, speaking to EW, McIntosh revealed that Gimple has no plans to make her Alpha:

"Well, I’m not gonna tell you! [Laughs] But, no, he’s said publicly and to me, 'It’s a completely different thing. It’s not you.' And I say, 'Fine, okay.'"

'The Lost and the Plunderers' saw Steven Ogg's Simon gun down Jadis' followers and trap her in her own junkyard. Rick and Michonne soon stopped by, but equally left her the triple-crossing villain to her possible death. As Jadis forced her people to plunge into a grinder in one of the season's most graphic scenes, it left her scorned and sure to return at some point for revenge.

Jadis becoming Alpha was an idea that was almost too neat for the show that likes to keep us guessing. As for Alpha's impending arrival, McIntosh knows that it will mean a big arc for the show and went on to say that she would love to shave her head to become the leader of the Whisperers now that her own group has met their maker:

"Well, I mean, she’s been brought up by the fans on those funny sites since I got cast, before we even shot a second of it or anyone had seen a script. People really love that character and they are excited to see her and I’d be honored for it to be me, but I’d also be thrilled if we could have another great female character come in, and why not have two? So, for me, it’s like which is better? Which is more exciting: to add another great woman to the cast of characters, or to get to do it myself? I don’t honestly know. They’ll decide."

Should audiences really be convinced by such a revealing answer though? It could all be a Jadis-esque double-cross, but the idea of her becoming a character as important as Alpha is one that hasn't been met with much joy from fans. The other big rumor is that Fear The Walking Dead's time jump for season 4 could neatly marry with theories that Kim Dickens' Madison becomes Alpha. Gimple has remained tight-lipped on whether the gang of people who wear the skin of the dead will appear before 'All Out War' comes to an end, but most are holding out hope for at least a tease leading into season 9.
