Fans of the zombie apocalypse are in for a treat this year, and AMC is launching an innovative reward scheme for two of its biggest shows. Both The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead will be treating its fans to a whole host of new goodies ahead of their respective returns to TV.

As the two most-viewed shows on cable television, AMC has decided to reward those who have stuck with the shows through thick and thin. As well as a points-based rewards club, the world of Robert Kirkman is also introducing "The Walking Dead Subscription Box" (working title) with some exclusive merchandise.

Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios, says that it is time to give back to those who have remained loyal to the shows:

“Much has been written about the ‘Golden Age of Television,’ yet with more outlets for, and more consistent expressions of, passion for the content fan’s love, it has also become a ‘Golden Age of Fandom.' Fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ are some of television’s most engaged, dedicated and passionate. They have been a North Star and the Fan Rewards Club and Subscription Box are two examples of extensions beyond the screen that were created based on their feedback.  We look forward to customizing these experiences for them long into the future.”

Those who join "The Walking Dead Fan Rewards Club" can rack up points every time they watch an episode or share content via social media. You can also earn points for creating your own fan fiction or fan art, but what can you get with your points? Collier promises that points can be exchanged for digital content, collectible items, or once in a lifetime experiences with members of the cast.

However, the real pull seems to be the subscription boxes. For $49 per quarter, fans will be treated to a limited-edition box which contains merchandise only available for those members. Each box will have five to seven items and include the likes of mugs, t-shirts, and pins. Those who are part of the "Rewards Club" can also use their points toward the subscription boxes. You can begin signing up late September to make sure your box arrives for TWD's Season 8 premiere, but the channel warns that it will be a first come, first served basis.

Both schemes arrive just in time for the 100th episode of The Walking Dead in October and the mid-season return of Fear The Walking Dead. Ratings may be down, but the main show still brought in an impressive 10 million viewers for the Season 7 finale and is steaming ahead with Season 8. Elsewhere, Fear is catching up to its bigger brother as the No.2 most-watched show on cable. It seems that AMC has no plans on shuffling these walkers off to the grave anytime soon.
