Norman Reedus shoots an action scene in the streets of Paris in set video from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. The Walking Dead ended with season 11 in 2022, but the universe is nonetheless set to live on in spinoff form. 2023 will indeed see the arrival of two new TWD spinoffs, one focused on Maggie and Negan, the other on beloved fan-favorite Daryl Dixon. The Walking Dead fans may indeed still have a long wait ahead of them for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon to arrive, but now at least they can get a taste of the action to come thanks to set video showing Reedus filming a scene in the streets of Paris.

In the clip (via TWD Universe), Reedus can be seen hitting a man coming at him out of a parked vehicle, then going to check on another character who is lying on the ground, having apparently been injured.

Everything We Know About The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

daryl dixon was nothing before the walking deads apocalypse

Seeing Daryl back in the thick of it is of course no surprise, given his tendency to rush head-long into any and all action. What is novel of course is the setting for this particular fight. No longer confined to the United States, Daryl now finds himself in Europe, where the zombie apocalypse has clearly taken a toll on civilization just as in America. As the show's synopsis reads:

In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.

Further plot details on Daryl Dixon are naturally being kept under wraps. However, Reedus has teased that the new show has a different tone to the original Walking Dead, saying that the change in setting represents a “fresh start” after years of rather repetitive storytelling on the original show. Part of that “fresh start” is actually an older TWD element that’s getting new emphasis, as Daryl Dixon is expected to bring back and expand upon the smarter, faster zombie variants seen briefly in the final episodes of the flagship show.

It remains to be seen what answers Daryl Dixon will provide about the nature of the zombie plague and how it might ultimately be ended. But The Walking Dead: World Beyond did tease some shady goings-on in Europe involving scientists and the truth about the walkers, so it’s entirely possible Daryl will stumble upon some clues and perhaps even come face-to-face with some of those responsible for the outbreak. No premiere date has yet been locked down for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, but the show is expected to debut in the back half of 2023.
