Norman Reedus teases more location details about The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon spinoff. Reedus’ gruff loner Daryl famously was not in the original Walking Dead comic book series. But TV fans grew so attached to the strong-but-silent character, they even threatened to riot if the show ever killed him off.

Now The Walking Dead is at the tail end of season 11, its final season on AMC, and Daryl is not only still around but thriving. Indeed, Reedus’ character is guaranteed to survive the events of season 11 as he’s received his own spinoff show. Melissa McBride’s Carol was of course meant to join Daryl originally, but plans changed and now Dixon will head off on a solo post-TWD adventure.

It was revealed quite awhile ago that Daryl’s spinoff will send the fan favorite character to Europe to become embroiled in all-new post-apocalyptic adventures (no doubt while mounted a new trusty motorcycle). Saturday at NYCC’s Walking Dead panel, Reedus himself let loose a few more teasers related to the show’s French setting. Check out his comments in the space below:

“It's in France. It's epic in scale… It’s crazy what we're gonna do. I think France is gonna have a f--king heart attack, which is good, which is what I want. It has a different look and a different feel, a different sound to it. It has all the things that you like about the show, but new people experiencing them and in a different kind of way. It's something I think we're all going to love. It’s funny being over there because, you know, they have different rules over there. And we regularly do use like three trucks for equipment. And we're like, no, we need like 25 of these trucks… There'll be a lot of familiar faces.”

Walking Dead executive producer Scott M. Gimple also chimed in from NYCC with his own brief teaser, saying “Stuff has gone on in France. Daryl in France is experiencing things that he hasn't experienced before. In life and with walkers.” Reedus himself previously gave some other remarks about Daryl’s French excursion, saying he’s a “fish out of water” in that environment and that he has to “reinvent” himself. And recently, the official title for Daryl’s Walking Dead spinoff was revealed to be the very straightforward Daryl Dixon.

As for the question of how Daryl even ends up in France, Reedus recently teased that he does not “go there of my free will.” This seemingly hints that the CRM, which famously snatched up Rick Grimes several seasons back, also snatches Daryl and sends him packing to Europe. Seeds have also been planted, most notably by the spinoff show The Walking Dead: World Beyond, indicating that Daryl could encounter some of those actually responsible for creating the zombie apocalypse in the first place.

It's also seemingly been teased that Europe will be crawling with more of the faster, smarter zombie variants that have recently made their way into The Walking Dead season 11. As for other TWD characters making their way onto Daryl's spinoff, Reedus has teased multiple times that Carol - or someone else - could join him at some point. Daryl Dixon does not yet have a premiere date but should be along some time in 2023.
