A new behind-the-scenes image from the upcoming The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff series features walkers in a brand-new setting for the franchise: the streets of Paris. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon sees the return of star Norman Reedus as Daryl for a new adventure that takes the character from the United States to Europe. Daryl wakes up in France with no idea of how he got there or what he's about to get caught up in during the spinoff.

Reedus shared a post on Instagram to celebrate his birthday, and in doing so, revealed a behind-the-scenes look at walkers roaming around Paris in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. Production on the upcoming Daryl spinoff series is primarily taking place in Paris and the île-de-France region. Reedus' The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon image shows walkers in a street of Paris that has been dressed up as part of The Walking Dead universe, including the presence of old rusty cars. Why The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Is Set In Paris?

The Walking Dead's series finale ended Daryl's journey on the show by having the character leave Carol and the rest of the group behind in hopes of finding out what was going on in other parts of the United States during the zombie apocalypse. Official word on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon places the events of the series months after that moment, with Daryl having to navigate France without the help of other familiar characters. Instead, Daryl will be accompanied on his French journey by new characters, such as progressive religious group member Isabelle and British underground nightclub owner Quinn, played by Clémence Poésy (The Essex Serpent) and Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl), respectively.

Paris will possibly be revealed to be the location of the French research laboratory Biomédicine DDMI, an important location from the franchise, that was first seen in another spinoff series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The Walking Dead wouldn't have the trouble of sending Daryl from the United States to France, with audiences already getting skeptical on the plausibility of such an event, if the character wasn't destined to find something big when getting there. The Walking Dead: World Beyond included Dr. Jenner, from The Walking Dead season 1, in its final episode. Jenner was in touch with Biomédicine DDMI, which was hinted to be both the place where the walker virus was created and the one that got closer to crafting a cure. Daryl could possibly find his way to the research lab and come face-to-face with the mythical cure during The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

Could Daryl And Rick Reunite In The Future?

If Daryl does find a cure for The Walking Dead's virus, he'll likely go straight back to his family in America to share the groundbreaking news. There's currently no word on how many seasons The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon could go on for, but there's one thing fans of the franchise know needs to happen before Reedus' time as the crossbow-wielding character ends: a Daryl and Rick reunion. Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes became brothers through their shared trials on The Walking Dead, with one of the show's most emotional scenes coming from Daryl trying to keep walkers off Rick from afar right before he'd blow up the bridge and be presumed dead for years. With both characters getting their own spinoff series, a Daryl and Rick reunion seems poised to happen in the future, taking place at the end of either show or even in a possible The Walking Dead crossover project to cap off the story of its main characters.
