The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has given more details as to how his upcoming Daryl Dixon spinoff series differs from the original show. At the end of The Walking Dead's series finale, Daryl rode off on his motorcycle in search of Rick and Michonne, who are starring in their own spinoff in 2024. However, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will see the long-standing survivor go to France, where he will try to figure out how he got there and how he can return home.

Speaking with ET, Reedus explained just how different The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be. The actor teased some level of romantic presentation to the series, underscoring how the show will feel like a reset for The Walking Dead universe. Check out what Reedus had to say below:

It's kind of a reset for me. Everything kind of breathes in a romantic way. We have the backdrop of France, we have the Catacombs, the Eiffel Tower. ... The whole vibe is different. A lot of the story is me trying to figure out what's happening and how to get out of here. There's a lot going on, but it's super poetic, it's super beautiful. It's not a repeat of the same show at all.

How Daryl's Spinoff Will Be A New Walking Dead Experience

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will introduce a multitude of new characters to The Walking Dead universe who will be interacting with Daryl on his travels in France. This includes Clémence Poésy's Isabel, a member of a religious group with a dark past, and Adam Nagaitis' Quinn, a powerful nightclub owner. While it's unclear how Daryl gets to France in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the series promises to answer this question during Daryl's travels.

Information from previous spinoff series also indicates Daryl will be facing plenty of new Walker threats in Paris. The post-credits scene from the series finale of The Walking Dead: World Beyond saw the introduction of speedy, aggressive variants located in France. Inevitably, Daryl will have to face these new variant Walkers in order to survive, making life in France even more difficult than back in Virginia.

Reedus teasing that the show is presented differently from The Walking Dead's flagship series also underscores just how different an environment Daryl will find himself in during his spinoff. While it's unclear just how the show will be presented, Reedus' use of the words "poetic" and "beautiful" are sure signs that it will feel like a very different series and setting than anything that's come before it. As The Walking Dead universe expands with Daryl's next adventure, more unexpected journeys for the seasoned survivor are likely on their way.
