Recently emerged set videos from The Walking Dead: Dead City reveal a brutal fight between Maggie and Negan. The Walking Dead concluded last year with season 11, but the show's universe is far from over. Three spinoffs are set to debut in the next two years: The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the untitled spinoff centered on Rick and Michonne. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan return as Negan and Maggie, respectively, for The Walking Dead: Dead City. The spinoff takes the fan-favorite characters on a mission to New York City, and they already appear to be at odds.Twitter user @maggiefiles shared a couple of behind-the-scenes videos from The Walking Dead: Dead City, which showcase Maggie and Negan in a possibly deadly fight.

Maggie forgiving Negan in The Walking Dead appears to have been retconned for their joint spinoff show. Even though the two could never be friends, Maggie and Negan found an understanding in The Walking Dead's series finale. Now, the set videos show Maggie and Negan apparently trying to kill each other, with Cohan's character stabbing the former leader of the Saviors in the shoulder, who then proceeds to push her off into a group of walkers.

What To Expect From The Walking Dead: Dead City

The Walking Dead: Dead City has been revealed to take place years after Maggie and Negan's very important heart-to-heart conversation in The Walking Dead's series finale, which appeared to have put them in a better place. The duo will band together on a mission to rescue a kidnapped Hershel — Maggie's son — from unknown forces in New York City. The spinoff will mark the first time New York gets explored in the zombie show's universe. While there, Maggie and Negan will discover how the Big Apple has taken to the apocalypse, with one interesting feature of the city coming from New York's transit system.

The Walking Dead mostly took place in rural areas, with the show's few explorations of bigger cities, namely Atlanta, showing hordes of the undead had made living in urban areas extremely difficult. Maggie's son getting kidnapped sends her and Negan on a dangerous trip through The Walking Dead's mostly unknown urban setting. The Walking Dead: Dead City will present a brand-new transit system to the franchise's universe, as survivors have created a series of zip-lines on top of buildings to allow them to move freely around New York, escaping the walker-infested streets of the city. Maggie and Negan will hunt down a notorious killer and more in the spinoff that premieres this June.

Why Negan & Maggie Fighting Goes Against The Walking Dead’s Finale

Negan and Maggie in The Walking Dead: Dead City

The possibly deadly fight between Maggie and Negan from the set videos would not come as a surprise if their entire plot during The Walking Dead season 11 had not revolved around the two finding a way to move forward from Negan's horrific killing of Glenn. Maggie and Negan had a long awaited heart-to-heart during the Walking Dead series finale, where Maggie finally aired out what she felt towards Negan. While she revealed that she could never fully forgive him for killing Glenn, Maggie let the former leader of the Saviors know that she saw he had changed and was grateful that he saved her son's life. Now, The Walking Dead: Dead City appears to have nullified that conversation, with the duo going back to trying to kill each other in the set videos.
