Alicia Clark has left Fear The Walking Dead... but is she done with The Walking Dead? Alycia Debnam-Carey made her zombie apocalypse debut in 2015, appearing in AMC's first (of many, apparently) spinoff shows. Since then, Alicia Clark has watched her mother, brother, step-father, step-brother, step-brother's mother, several love interests, and one cult leader serial killer perish one after the other.

Alongside Victor Strand, Alicia represents one of precious few Fear The Walking Dead originals who hasn't vanished for a season or more, but season 7's "Amina" feels conspicuously like a farewell. Fighting through a relentless fever and avian hallucinations, Alicia finally succeeds in getting her people to safety (relatively speaking) but collapses on a beach as soon as her mission is done. Alicia then miraculously awakens with a fresh face of make-up and resolves to fight on, this time helping desperate survivors who heard her rallying cry at the Tower.

You could make an argument that Alicia's dead in this final scene - the fever finally took her, and the "awakening" is some kind of afterlife sequence. Considering this afterlife has zombies, however, Alicia likely has survived in Fear The Walking Dead. Will she appear in the spinoff again? Or can Alycia Debham-Carey return elsewhere?

Has Alicia Left Fear The Walking Dead?

Whatever comes next, Alycia Debnam-Carey has departed her regular duties on Fear The Walking Dead. AMC+'s behind-the-scenes post-show segment openly confirmed "Amina" was "Alicia's last episode" and was written as a goodbye to both the character and Alycia Debnam-Carey. The actress recently landed a leading role in Hulu's Saint X series, and confirmed her exit from the undead realm on Instagram, announcing, "I was 21 when we began this crazy journey but now at 28, after 7 years and 100 episodes, I decided it was time for me to move on as an actor and as a person." Alicia will not appear in the final episode of Fear The Walking Dead season 7, and looks extremely unlikely to feature in the forthcoming season 8 outside any archive footage flashbacks.

Will Alicia Return To The Walking Dead (& How?)

Fear The Walking Dead season 7's "Amina" episode works very hard to keep Alicia Clark alive. Facing the triple threat of fever, fire and fallout (not to mention the ever-present threat of zombies), Alicia somehow walks away unscathed. Again, some might interpret these scenes as an afterlife, but that's not the explanation Andrew Chambliss (Fear The Walking Dead showrunner) leans toward, stating in the episode's AMC+ post-show that Alicia "walk[s] off as a triumphant hero." Killing Alicia would've been much easier and made far more sense, so there must be a purpose for her survival that the wider tapestry of The Walking Dead hasn't yet revealed.

The most obvious place Alicia Clark could return is a future season of Fear The Walking Dead. Plenty of familiar faces have washed back to shore over the years - whether for a cameo or in a full-time capacity - and Kim Dickens' Madison marks the most recent. Alicia always believed her mother died at Dell Diamond baseball stadium, so an eventual reunion must still happen to give Fear The Walking Dead's audience closure on that relationship. Alycia Debnam-Carey ain't returning anytime soon, but maybe a Madison-Alicia reunion can happen in the series finale?

As AMC's Walking Dead franchise continues to expand, more potential avenues for Alicia's future appear. After The Walking Dead season 11 ends, we can already expect a Daryl Dixon spinoff in Europe, a Negan & Maggie spinoff in New York, and a Rick Grimes movie. Something big is cooking, perhaps with various characters splitting up before coming together against a larger force like the CRM - a group Alicia knows a little about. As Alycia Debnam-Carey heads into the unknown, her path may cross with that of Rick, or Michonne, or even Maggie & Negan if she walks far enough. Separating Alicia from Fear The Walking Dead's other cast members could steer her toward a new show entirely.
